The replacement battery stops charging at 80% on my G5 KC and never goes higher — is the cell capped?

This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the battery. Gigabyte's firmware includes a battery care mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during extended AC use. Check the Gigabyte Control Center application — open it, go to the battery section, and switch the charge limit from "Custom" or "Balance" mode to "Full Capacity" to allow charging to 100%.
