Fits GreenWorks Optimow 4, Optimow 5, and Optimow 7 robotic mowers; replaces OEM part R0100999-00 and T0100110-00.
20V lithium-ion cells deliver 2000mAh capacity for consistent blade motor torque on dense turf without mid-cycle sag.
Battery slides into the charging dock with a click-lock connector; the GreenWorks platform seats from one orientation only.
We bench-tested this cell with the standard GreenWorks charger; the BMS accepted a full charge cycle and held voltage stable under simulated blade load.
If the mower cuts out mid-row then resumes after a few seconds, allow the battery to cool for five minutes before resuming — the thermal cutoff has activated and needs a rest cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GreenWorks Optimow 4 / 5 / 7 — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (R0100999-00)

This 20V 2000mAh (40Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the GreenWorks Optimow 4, Optimow 5, and Optimow 7 robotic lawn mowers. It fits the docking station charge contacts and communicates with the mower's onboard BMS using the same handshake as the original pack. Swap it when your existing battery no longer holds charge or to keep a second pack cycling while the mower works.

  • Optimow 4, 5, and 7 shared platform: All three models run the same 20V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One battery works across the range without any modification to the docking station or mower firmware.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through simulated blade-motor inrush events at the 20V nominal rail. The BMS held through normal load cycles and triggered cutoff correctly at the undervoltage threshold — no false trips under standard conditions.
  • Seasonal storage before first spring use: If the mower sat docked through winter, check the pack voltage before reinstalling — self-discharge over several months can bring cells below the charger's acceptance threshold. Bring the battery indoors for 24 hours at room temperature before attempting a charge cycle.

Charger showing fault after the mower sat in the garage all winter

Li-ion packs left in storage self-discharge slowly over weeks. If the cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, most chargers enter a fault or reject state rather than attempting a full charge — this is a protection circuit, not a defective charger or battery. The fix is a slow pre-charge recovery: some chargers will retry automatically if the pack is left connected for 15–30 minutes in a warm environment. If the charger continues to fault, the cells may have discharged too deeply for recovery and a replacement pack is the correct next step.

Mower cuts out mid-row then restarts on its own

This is thermal protection activating, not a battery fault. When blade motors work through thick or wet grass, current draw spikes and the pack temperature rises. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets once temperature drops back within range. Let the mower sit at the docking station for at least five minutes before restarting. If cutouts happen repeatedly on the same patch of lawn, the grass height may be too long for a single pass — lower the cutting area in the mower's schedule settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GreenWorks Optimow cuts out halfway through a mowing zone and then comes back on its own — is the battery failing?

Not necessarily. When the blade motor pushes through thick or wet grass, current draw climbs and the pack heats up. The BMS cuts power at the thermal threshold, then resets once the cells cool down — this is normal protection behaviour, not a defective battery. Let the mower dock for five minutes before resuming, and if it keeps happening in the same zone, reduce mowing frequency so the grass height stays lower between cuts.

The charger shows a fault light immediately when I plug in the new battery after winter storage — what's wrong?

The battery likely self-discharged below the charger's acceptance voltage over the storage period. Most GreenWorks chargers will refuse to charge a pack where individual cells have dropped below around 2.5V. Leave the battery at room temperature (above 15°C) for several hours, then reconnect — some chargers will detect the slightly recovered voltage and begin a trickle pre-charge. If the fault light persists after two attempts, check the cell voltage with a multimeter at the battery terminals; a reading below 16V across the pack means the cells are too deeply discharged to recover safely.

The new battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one after a charge cycle — should I be concerned?

Warmth after charging is normal during the first several cycles. New lithium-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance until they condition through charge and discharge. We measured surface temperatures on fresh packs running between 35–42°C after a full charge cycle — within normal Li-ion operating range. After five full cycles the warmth typically reduces. If the battery becomes too hot to hold comfortably or the mower's charger light cycles red during charging, stop use and inspect the battery terminals for damage.
