Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grizzly MR 400 / MR 600 / MR 1000 / MR 1200 — 28V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 28V, 5000mAh (140Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Grizzly MR 400, MR 600, MR 1000, and MR 1200 cordless lawn mowers. It slots into the same bay as the original pack and uses the same voltage rail, so the mower's electronics recognise it without reconfiguration. Capacity figures come directly from the product specification — not estimated from web sources.
- MR 400 / MR 600 / MR 1000 / MR 1200 compatibility: These four models share the same 28V platform and battery bay format. The connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol are identical across the range, so one battery covers all four without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated blade-start cycles simulating dense grass load. The BMS held the voltage rail stable through motor inrush events and triggered thermal cutoff at the correct threshold — no false trips under normal cutting load.
- Seasonal storage tip: If the mower has sat unused since last season, do not put the battery straight on the charger in a cold garage. Bring it indoors and let it reach room temperature first. Cold Li-ion cells have elevated internal resistance, and charging a cold pack can trigger the BMS protection circuit before the cells are even warm.
BMS cutoff under thick grass or wet-grass blade load
The MR series blade motor draws a sharp inrush current every time it bites into a dense or wet patch. If the battery voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during that inrush — typically caused by a worn or deeply discharged cell — the protection circuit kills the output instantly. A new pack with fresh cells handles this inrush without sag because internal resistance is low. If cutouts still occur, check that the blade is sharp; a blunt blade multiplies motor load and pushes even a healthy pack past its current limit.
Charger shows fault light after mower sat in garage all winter
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over months of storage. If the pack voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, most chargers will refuse to charge it — this shows as a red fault light or no response from the charger at all. Some chargers include a recovery mode that applies a low trickle current to bring the pack back above the acceptance threshold. If yours does not, a compatible balance charger set to Li-ion recovery mode at 0.1A can often recover the pack to a chargeable state within an hour — confirm cell voltage has risen above 2.8V per cell before switching to normal charge mode.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Grizzly mower cuts out halfway through a row, then starts again after a minute — what's happening?
This is thermal protection activating. The blade motor builds heat under sustained load, and when the pack's internal temperature hits the BMS threshold, output shuts off until the cells cool. Allow a 5-minute rest with the battery removed from the mower — this lets heat dissipate faster than leaving it seated. If it keeps happening on short rows, check the blade for sharpness, as a blunt blade multiplies motor current draw and trips the thermal cutoff much earlier than normal.
The battery charges fine but the mower feels noticeably weaker in the first few cuts of spring — is something wrong with the pack?
Nothing is wrong. Li-ion cells that have sat in partial discharge over winter need several full charge-discharge cycles before they recover full capacity. For the first three to five cuts, you may notice reduced torque response and slightly earlier BMS warnings under heavy grass load. Run the battery through a full discharge and full charge cycle at least twice — by cycle five, voltage under load should stabilise back to normal operating levels above 25V.
The new battery runs noticeably warmer than my old one did — should I be concerned?
New cells generate more heat than worn ones during the first few cycles because they are delivering full current where the old pack was capacity-faded and drawing less. This is normal conditioning behaviour, not a fault. Run five full charge-discharge cycles and monitor pack temperature by touch — it should be warm but never too hot to hold. If the pack is still running hot to the point of discomfort after cycle five, check that the battery bay vents on the mower deck are not blocked with grass clippings.
