Fits Ferrex R800 EASY+ and R800 EASY robotic mowers; replaces OEM part 862617 or 862618.
28V 5000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full blade torque on standard lawn heights without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into the mower battery slot with a spring-loaded locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested the BMS under simulated thick-grass load; thermal protection engaged at expected threshold without early cutoff.
Before first spring use, bring the pack indoors overnight if outdoor temps are below 10°C — cold Li-ion has higher internal resistance and the blade motor inrush current can trip the BMS on a frozen cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ferrex R800 EASY+ / R800 EASY — 28V Li-ion Replacement Battery (862617)

This 28V 5000mAh (140Wh) Li-ion battery fits the Ferrex R800 EASY+ and R800 EASY cordless lawn mowers. It replaces OEM part numbers 862617 and 862618. The cell chemistry, voltage rail, and BMS handshake match the original pack exactly.

  • R800 EASY+ and R800 EASY compatibility: Both mower variants share the same 28V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One replacement pack covers either unit without any adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through blade-motor start loads and sustained cutting draws. The BMS held stable across repeated inrush events and balanced all cells correctly before the final charge termination.
  • Spring start-up tip: Before first use of the season, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current can trip the BMS on a cold pack before cutting even starts.

BMS cutoff on thick-grass or wet-grass blade load

The R800's blade motor draws a sharp inrush current every time it bites into dense or wet grass. If the pack's cells are even slightly fatigued or below 20% charge, that spike can push current draw past the BMS protection threshold. The BMS responds by cutting output instantly — the mower stops mid-row. Let the pack rest for five minutes, then restart at a slower walking pace to reduce per-cycle load on the motor.

Charger not accepting the pack after winter storage

A pack left in the garage over winter can self-discharge below the charger's acceptance voltage — typically below 20V on a 28V Li-ion pack. The charger sees an out-of-range cell stack and refuses to start a charge cycle. Some chargers show a fault light rather than a charge-progress light. Try leaving the pack connected for 30 minutes anyway — many chargers run a low-current recovery pulse below the normal acceptance threshold before switching to full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ferrex R800 EASY+ cuts out halfway across the lawn and then starts again after a minute — what's causing that?

That's thermal protection triggering inside the BMS. The blade motor runs a sustained high-current draw during a long mowing row, and if the cells heat past the BMS cutoff threshold the pack shuts output and waits for temperature to drop. It's most common in long sessions on thick or slightly damp grass. Allow a five-minute cooldown, then resume — and if it trips repeatedly, check that the blade isn't clogged, as drag on the blade drives cell temperature up faster.

I charged the battery all winter on a shelf and now the charger just flashes a fault light — is the pack dead?

Probably not dead — just deeply discharged. Self-discharge over several months can pull cell voltage below the charger's acceptance threshold, so the charger refuses to start a normal cycle. Leave the pack connected to the charger for 30–45 minutes. Most chargers run a trickle recovery current before they begin full charging, and the fault light will shift to a charge-progress indicator once the cells recover above roughly 20V. If the light stays on fault after an hour, check the charger with a second pack to rule out a charger fault first.

The mower feels less powerful on the first few cuts of spring even though the battery shows full — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the pack. Li-ion cells deliver noticeably less capacity and higher internal resistance below 10°C, which reduces available current at the blade motor. The mower runs but feels sluggish, especially on the first pull across a cold-morning lawn. Bring the battery indoors for several hours before mowing — a pack at room temperature will perform at its rated 140Wh output from the first cut. Performance normalises fully once the cells reach operating temperature after a few minutes of use.
