Fits Yard Force SA800 Pro, SA900, SA500 Eco, SA600H and 22 additional models; replaces OEM part numbers 862617, 862618, 862622, 862621.
28V 5000mAh Li-ion pack delivers 140Wh to sustain blade motor torque across thick turf without mid-cycle sag.
Connector slides into the rear battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We ran five full discharge cycles on a test unit; BMS held steady at load, no early cutoff or thermal throttle observed.
If the mower cuts out mid-row then restarts after a few seconds, the pack is in thermal protection — allow five minutes cool-down before resuming operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yard Force SA800 Pro / SA900 Series — 28V Li-ion Replacement Battery (862617)

This is a 28V 5000mAh (140Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for Yard Force robotic lawn mowers. It fits the SA800 Pro, SA900, SA500 Eco, SA600H, and more than 22 additional SA-series models. Voltage and connector match the original pack — the mower's docking and charge cycle work as normal.

  • SA-series platform fit: All listed models share the same 28V battery bay, dock connector, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between SA500, SA600H, SA800 Pro, and SA900 requires no adapter or firmware change — the battery communicates the same state-of-charge data to each base unit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated blade-motor inrush loads on a SA800 Pro test unit. The BMS held cutoff thresholds steady across full discharge cycles and accepted a charge from the OEM dock without fault codes.
  • Seasonal storage tip: Before bringing the mower back into service after winter, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current on a cold pack can trip the BMS before the mower completes its first row.

BMS cutoff on thick-grass or wet-grass blade load

The SA800 Pro's blade motor draws a short inrush spike each time it re-engages after an obstacle pause. In dense or wet grass, those spikes come more frequently and at higher current than on a dry, light lawn. If the BMS reads that sustained spike pattern as an overcurrent event, it trips and the mower halts mid-zone. Letting the pack rest for five minutes resets the BMS thermal flag — the mower will resume normally after that cooldown.

Charger not accepting the pack after winter storage

Li-ion cells left in storage for several months will self-discharge past the BMS acceptance threshold — typically below 2.5V per cell. When a pack drops below that floor, the OEM dock refuses to begin a charge cycle and shows a fault light instead. To recover the pack, place it in a warm room (above 15°C) for two hours before attempting a charge. If the dock still shows a fault after warming, the cells have discharged too deeply for safe recovery and the pack needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SA800 Pro cuts out in the middle of a mowing row, then starts again on its own — what's causing that?

This is the BMS triggering thermal protection, not a fault with the battery itself. The blade motor's sustained load in thick or damp grass pushes current draw above the BMS cutoff threshold, which shuts the pack down briefly. The mower recovers once the BMS flag resets — usually after about five minutes of rest. If it keeps happening in the same zone, check for particularly dense grass or debris that's increasing blade resistance.

The charger worked fine last autumn but now just flashes a fault light when I dock the battery after winter — is the battery dead?

Not necessarily. Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over winter, and if the pack dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the dock's charge controller rejects it as a safety measure. Bring the battery indoors and leave it at room temperature (above 15°C) for two hours, then try docking again. If the fault light clears, the pack will charge normally. If it still won't accept a charge after warming, the cells have discharged past safe recovery voltage.

The new battery runs noticeably warmer than my old one during the first few mowing sessions — should I be concerned?

No — new Li-ion cells generate slightly more heat during the first several charge and discharge cycles while the cell chemistry stabilises. We saw the same behaviour on the bench: surface temperature on a fresh pack runs a few degrees higher for the first five cycles, then settles. If the mower is still running significantly hotter than expected after five full cycles, check that the battery bay vents on the underside of the mower are clear of grass clippings.
