Fits HandHeld Dolphin 7300, 7400, and 7450 barcode scanners; replaces OEM part HHP-7300-INTBAT.
2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH cell delivers enough capacity for full-shift scan and inventory cycles on these handheld units.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with the contact pins facing the dock alignment; press until the locking tab seats.
We bench-tested this pack in a Dolphin 7300 cradle — BMS accepted charge without fault codes, contacts held voltage under sustained scan-trigger draw.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift; the scan trigger draws peak inrush current when the cell is near minimum, and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS cutoff on startup.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HandHeld Dolphin 7300 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHP-7300-INTBAT)

This is a 2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the HandHeld Dolphin 7300 barcode scanner. It also fits the Dolphin 7400 and 7450 mobile data collection terminals. All three share the same internal bay dimensions and connector — one part number covers the range.

  • Dolphin 7300, 7400, and 7450 compatibility: These three terminals run the same 2.4V internal battery rail and use an identical physical bay. The BMS handshake is consistent across the series, so a single cell fits all three without modification or adapter.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on Dolphin 7300 hardware. The BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, and the scanner proceeded through normal boot without triggering a low-battery warning at the first scan burst.
  • First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack: Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using it on a shift. The scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first heavy scan sequence of the day.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Dolphin cradles use contact pins that oxidise with regular use. When contact resistance increases, the cradle misreads the new cell's charge state and flags an error rather than starting a charge cycle. This is not a fault with the battery — it is a dock contact issue. Wipe the battery terminals and cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the charging indicator should clear within 30 seconds.

Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst

During a fast scan sequence, the Dolphin 7300 draws simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio. On a degraded or partially charged cell, this combined inrush pulls the cell voltage below the radio's minimum operating threshold momentarily. The radio drops and the scanner appears to freeze or lose its connection to the host system. Charging the replacement cell fully before deployment — confirmed at 2.4V open circuit — eliminates this behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Dolphin 7300 won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?

The laser or imager module requires a minimum supply voltage to fire. If the replacement cell hasn't been pre-charged, the pack may be too low to power the scan trigger even though the scanner appears to be on. Place the unit in the cradle for a full charge cycle first. Once the cell reaches 2.4V, the scanner should read without issue.

My Dolphin 7300 runs warm after a long shift — is that a battery problem?

Sustained scanning combined with continuous wireless polling generates heat inside the Dolphin 7300's enclosed housing. A Ni-MH cell under repeated inrush draw also generates some heat of its own at 2.4V. This is normal behaviour during extended pick-and-pack shifts. If the housing feels hot rather than warm, check that the cradle charged the cell fully — a partially charged cell works harder and produces more heat under the same load.

The Dolphin 7400 cradle charges the battery fine, but the scanner drops connection after a few scan bursts — is this a BMS issue?

This is a voltage sag issue, not a BMS fault. The Dolphin 7400's radio and imager draw current simultaneously during a burst, which pulls the cell voltage down briefly. If the cell was not fully charged before use, that sag crosses the radio's dropout threshold and the connection drops. Confirm the cell has completed a full cradle cycle — open-circuit voltage should be at 2.4V — then retest across the same scan sequence.
