Fits Datalogic RIDA DBT6400 and RBP-6400 scanners; replaces OEM part RBP-DBT6X.
3.7V, 500mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full power to laser and wireless radio on pick-and-pack shifts.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot on the scanner handle with positive contact alignment.
We ran charge cycles on a DBT6400 dock; the BMS accepted a full charge without fault codes.
Install the pack in the cradle for one complete charge cycle before first field use to prevent scan trigger inrush cutoff during rapid barcode bursts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic RIDA DBT6400 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (RBP-DBT6X)

This is a 3.7V, 500mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Datalogic RIDA DBT6400 handheld barcode scanner. It fits the DBT6400 scanner body and the RBP-6400 configuration. OEM cross-references are RBP-DBT6X, BT-41, and 128004100.

  • DBT6400 and RBP-6400 fit: Both the DBT6400 scanner and the RBP-6400 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers both. The 3.7V nominal rail matches the voltage regulation circuit on either unit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless polling loads. The BMS held stable across inrush events and did not false-trip during back-to-back barcode read sequences.
  • First-shift cradle conditioning: After fitting a new pack, place the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger pulls the highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged cell stops the BMS from tripping on that first burst.

Cradle showing charging error on a new DBT6400 pack

The DBT6400 cradle reads battery state through four gold contacts on the base of the scanner. If any contact has oxidation or debris, the cradle throws a charge fault even when the pack itself is fine. Remove the scanner, inspect all four contacts on both the pack and cradle, and wipe them with a dry cloth. Reseat the scanner firmly — a partial seating raises contact resistance above the cradle's detection threshold and produces the same error.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The DBT6400 draws simultaneously from the wireless radio and the imager during a fast scan sequence. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, this combined inrush pulls the voltage rail below the radio module's minimum, and the connection drops. The BMS may also interpret the combined draw as an overload and briefly cut output. Charge the pack fully before the shift, and if dropouts continue on a new pack, check that the battery contacts are clean — dirty contacts add resistance that worsens voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DBT6400 scanner stops reading barcodes right after I fit a new battery — is the pack faulty?

Almost always, no. The imager in the DBT6400 needs the cell above a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack shipped at storage charge (roughly 3.6–3.65V) can sit just below that threshold. Put the scanner in the cradle and complete a full charge cycle before using it on the floor. After a full charge the imager fires cleanly on the first trigger pull.

The DBT6400 cradle shows a charging error even though the battery is brand new — what's wrong?

The cradle communicates with the pack through four contact points on the scanner base. Any debris or light oxidation on those contacts raises resistance high enough that the cradle reports a fault. Remove the scanner, wipe the gold contacts on both the scanner and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly until the cradle clicks. If the error clears, the contacts were the issue — not the pack or the dock electronics.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long scanning shift — is that a battery problem?

Sustained combined load from the wireless radio and the imager generates heat inside the DBT6400's compact housing, and the pack absorbs some of that. Warmth after a full shift is normal. If the scanner becomes hot to the touch or powers off mid-shift, check that the battery contacts are seated flush — a loose connection creates resistance that generates additional heat under load. Re-seat the pack and confirm the contact pins engage fully before the next shift.
