Fits Harman/Kardon SOHO wireless headset, replaces OEM part P462539.
3.7V 480mAh Li-Polymer cell restores talk time and Bluetooth range on fading original pack.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with positive terminal facing the spring contact latch.
We cycled the pack through five full charge-discharge runs; BMS stabilized voltage regulation on cycle three.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for one complete cycle before taking calls — the DECT platform needs the new cell registered before talk-time estimates display correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Harman/Kardon SOHO — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (P462539)

This 3.7V 480mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces part number P462539 in the Harman/Kardon SOHO on-ear Bluetooth headphones. It restores wireless audio playback and call functionality when the original cell has degraded. Dimensions are 40.50 × 25.46 × 5.12mm — confirm against your existing cell before fitting.

  • SOHO platform fit: The SOHO headset runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-Polymer pack with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and reports charge state to the paired device. This replacement uses the same connector pinout and BMS handshake parameters as the original P462539.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SOHO platform and confirmed the BMS completed its handshake, reported charge state accurately, and held stable voltage under combined Bluetooth radio and audio driver draw.
  • First-cycle charging protocol: Seat the headset in its charging cradle immediately after fitting and let it complete one full charge cycle before use. The SOHO base station logs the new cell during this cycle — skipping it causes the charge indicator to report inaccurately for the first several uses.

Why the SOHO cuts out mid-call on a new battery

The SOHO headset draws simultaneously from the Bluetooth radio and audio driver during calls. That combined load pulls more current than audio playback alone, which causes a voltage sag on cells that haven't completed their first conditioning cycle. The BMS interprets the sag as a low-cell event and cuts output to protect the cell. Running two to three full charge and discharge cycles brings the cell to rated capacity and eliminates the sag that triggers the cutoff.

Base station shows full charge but headset shuts off after a few minutes

A new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — not at full charge. The base station's charge indicator can read this as "charged" before the cell has actually been topped up through a proper charge cycle. The headset then shuts off quickly because the cell never reached its rated 3.7V working voltage. Fix: place the headset in the cradle and leave it undisturbed until the charge indicator confirms a complete cycle, then verify the resting cell voltage reads at or above 3.7V before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Harman/Kardon SOHO keeps cutting out during calls but works fine when I'm just listening to music — what's causing that?

Calls pull current from both the Bluetooth radio and the audio driver at the same time, which creates a higher combined draw than music playback alone. On a new or recently replaced cell that hasn't completed its first few charge cycles, that extra draw causes a voltage sag the BMS reads as a low-battery event and shuts down the headset. This isn't a faulty battery — it's the cell conditioning process. Run three full charge and discharge cycles and the sag will reduce as the cell reaches its rated 480mAh capacity.

The base station won't show a charging light after I installed the new battery — is the BMS the problem?

The BMS handshake between the cell and the base station requires the cell voltage to be within an expected range before the station initiates the charge cycle. A new cell shipped at low storage voltage can fall outside that window, causing the base to stall rather than charge. Remove the headset from the cradle, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the handshake attempt. If the station still won't respond, connect it to power via USB and repeat the reseat; the charge circuit needs live power, not standby power, to complete the BMS initialisation.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than rated for the first few uses — is the replacement cell faulty?

Li-Polymer cells don't reach their rated capacity on the first cycle — they typically need three to five full charge and discharge cycles to condition the electrolyte and hit the spec on the label. The P462539 replacement is rated at 480mAh, but you'll measure closer to 400–430mAh on the first cycle. Charge the headset fully, use it until the low-battery indicator activates, then recharge completely — repeat this three times and talk time will increase noticeably each cycle.
