JBL Synchros E40BT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (453048D)

This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion battery for the JBL Synchros E40BT on-ear wireless headphones. It replaces OEM part 453048D, which powers both the Bluetooth radio and audio circuitry in the E40BT. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a listening session.

• E40BT power rail: The Synchros E40BT runs its Bluetooth stack and audio amplifier off a single 3.7V cell. Both loads draw simultaneously during playback, so the BMS must handle combined current without tripping. This cell's protection circuit matches the OEM discharge threshold for that dual load.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the E40BT platform. The BMS cleared charge termination correctly and the headset powered up without error at the first attempt.
• First-cycle initialisation on the E40BT: Charge the E40BT to full before the first listening session. The headset's firmware reads cell state from the BMS to calculate remaining capacity — a cell shipped at storage voltage will cause the indicator to misread until one complete charge cycle completes.

Why the E40BT cuts out mid-track on a new battery

A new Li-ion cell often ships at 30–50% state of charge. When the E40BT draws current for both Bluetooth transmission and audio amplification simultaneously, voltage sag on a partially charged cell can trip the BMS under-voltage cutoff. The headset shuts off even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. One full charge cycle resolves this — the cell needs to reach its rated 3.7V nominal before sustained dual-load draw is stable.

Talk time shorter than rated on the first few uses

Li-ion cells do not deliver full capacity on the first cycle out of storage. Internal resistance is slightly elevated until the cell has been charged and discharged fully two to three times. On the E40BT, this shows up as noticeably shorter playback before the low-battery warning triggers. Capacity improves across three to five complete charge cycles — charge to 100% and run the headset until the low-battery tone sounds each time.
