Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Synchros E40BT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (453048D)
This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion battery for the JBL Synchros E40BT on-ear wireless headphones. It replaces OEM part 453048D, which powers both the Bluetooth radio and audio circuitry in the E40BT. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a listening session.
- E40BT power rail: The Synchros E40BT runs its Bluetooth stack and audio amplifier off a single 3.7V cell. Both loads draw simultaneously during playback, so the BMS must handle combined current without tripping. This cell's protection circuit matches the OEM discharge threshold for that dual load.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the E40BT platform. The BMS cleared charge termination correctly and the headset powered up without error at the first attempt.
- First-cycle initialisation on the E40BT: Charge the E40BT to full before the first listening session. The headset's firmware reads cell state from the BMS to calculate remaining capacity — a cell shipped at storage voltage will cause the indicator to misread until one complete charge cycle completes.
Why the E40BT cuts out mid-track on a new battery
A new Li-ion cell often ships at 30–50% state of charge. When the E40BT draws current for both Bluetooth transmission and audio amplification simultaneously, voltage sag on a partially charged cell can trip the BMS under-voltage cutoff. The headset shuts off even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. One full charge cycle resolves this — the cell needs to reach its rated 3.7V nominal before sustained dual-load draw is stable.
Talk time shorter than rated on the first few uses
Li-ion cells do not deliver full capacity on the first cycle out of storage. Internal resistance is slightly elevated until the cell has been charged and discharged fully two to three times. On the E40BT, this shows up as noticeably shorter playback before the low-battery warning triggers. Capacity improves across three to five complete charge cycles — charge to 100% and run the headset until the low-battery tone sounds each time.

Frequently Asked Questions
The E40BT powers off suddenly during playback even though the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?
This is voltage sag under the combined Bluetooth and audio load. A new or recently replaced cell at partial state of charge can't sustain the current draw without dipping below the BMS cutoff voltage, so the headset shuts down even with apparent charge remaining. It is not a fault with the battery or the headset. Charge the E40BT fully before the next session — a full cycle stabilises the cell voltage and stops the premature cutoff.
The headset feels noticeably warm during long listening sessions after fitting the new battery — is that normal?
Yes, within limits. The E40BT houses both the Bluetooth radio and audio amplifier in a compact earcup with little airflow, so the combined load generates heat that has nowhere to go. We observed mild warmth on the bench during extended playback — it should not be hot to the touch. If the housing becomes uncomfortable to hold, check that the headset firmware is current, as older firmware versions have been reported to keep the radio active at higher power than necessary.
After a full charge the capacity indicator drops to low much faster than expected — does the battery need replacing again?
Not immediately. Li-ion cells take three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity after installation. On the E40BT, the firmware estimates remaining charge based on voltage curve — a new cell's curve sits slightly off nominal until it has been cycled, which makes the indicator pessimistic. Run three complete cycles: charge to 100%, use the headset until the low-battery tone sounds, then recharge fully. If the indicator still drops abnormally fast after five cycles, check the cell voltage at rest with a multimeter — it should read between 3.9V and 4.1V after a full charge.
