Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell OH4502 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650-3SC)
This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell for the Honeywell OH4502 and OH4502 2D Laser Wireless barcode scanner. It replaces the original INR18650-3SC cylindrical cell used in handheld mobile data collection devices across retail, warehousing, and logistics environments. Slot it into any OH4502 unit that shows shortened shift endurance or fails to hold a charge.
- OH4502 and OH4502 2D Laser Wireless compatibility: Both scanner variants draw from the same 3.7V rail using the INR18650-3SC cell format. The BMS handshake, connector footprint, and cell dimensions — 66.00 × 21.40 × 18.60mm — are identical across the series, so one cell fits both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated scan-trigger and wireless transmission loads. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and did not trip on combined radio-plus-imager inrush during burst scanning sequences.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack. Scan-trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage, and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first active shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new INR18650-3SC pack
A charging error on a freshly installed cell almost always comes from dock contact resistance, not a faulty cell. The cradle's charge controller reads contact voltage to verify the pack is seated — high resistance at the contacts causes it to flag an error before charging starts. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears, the contacts were the issue, not the cell chemistry.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
Rapid-fire scanning pulls from the same cell that's simultaneously powering the wireless radio. When an ageing or partially charged cell can't supply the combined inrush, voltage sags briefly and the radio drops its connection to the access point. The scanner may reconnect within seconds, making the fault look intermittent. Confirm the cell is fully charged before the shift — the voltage should read at or above 4.1V on a full charge — and the problem typically stops.

Frequently Asked Questions
My OH4502 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager or laser needs a minimum supply voltage to fire. If the new cell shipped partially discharged, the scanner may power on but the imager draw pushes voltage below the read threshold. Place the scanner in its cradle and complete a full charge cycle first. Once the cell is at 4.1V or above, the scanner should read without issue.
The cradle is showing a charging error every time I dock the OH4502 with the new pack — is the battery faulty?
This is almost always a contact resistance problem, not a bad cell. The cradle's charge controller reads contact voltage to confirm a valid pack — corroded or dusty dock pins cause a false fault before charging even starts. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and check whether the error clears. If it does, the cell is fine and the contacts were the cause.
The scanner gets noticeably warm during long shifts — is that normal for this cell?
Some warmth is expected. The OH4502 runs simultaneous wireless polling and repeated scan-trigger draws inside a compact housing with limited airflow, and the INR18650-3SC cell generates heat under that sustained combined load. If the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the cradle contacts are clean and making full connection — poor contact forces the cell to work harder during charge cycles, which compounds heat during use. Normal operating warmth does not affect cell life.
