Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec CK30 / CK31 / CK32 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (318-020-001)
This 7.4V, 3400mAh lithium-ion pack replaces OEM part 318-020-001 (also cross-referenced as AB1G) in the Intermec CK30, CK31, and CK32 rugged handheld computers. These devices are used in warehouse, retail, and field operations where scanners run continuous scan-and-transmit cycles across shifts. The pack slots directly into the existing battery bay with no modification.
- CK30 / CK31 / CK32 platform fit: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, 7.4V voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one pack covers the full CK3x line. The connector and cell communication lines are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-burst and wireless polling loads on a CK30 unit. The BMS held stable across the full discharge curve, with no false low-voltage cutoff during high-frequency trigger pulls.
- First-shift prep for CK3x scanners: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before putting it on the pick floor. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully primed pack stops the BMS from tripping on the very first burst of the shift.
Cradle showing charging error after fitting a new CK30 pack
A charging error on a freshly installed pack is almost always a contact resistance problem, not a faulty cell. The CK3x cradle uses pogo-pin contacts that oxidise over time, and a new pack with slightly different contact plating can tip the resistance just over the dock's threshold. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, the pack is fine — the contact surface needed cleaning.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The CK30 draws simultaneously from the 802.11 radio and the scan trigger during a fast burst — combined inrush can momentarily sag the voltage enough to force a radio re-association. This happens most often when the pack is below 20% charge, where internal resistance rises and the cell struggles to deliver the combined load cleanly. The fix is not to run the pack below 3.6V per cell (7.2V pack total) during active wireless scanning. Charge the pack before it reaches the warning indicator, not after the radio drop has already interrupted your session.

Frequently Asked Questions
The CK30 imager fires but won't read barcodes right after I swapped the battery — is the scanner broken?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to illuminate at full power, and a new pack straight out of packaging often sits below 50% charge from storage. At that level, the laser or LED output drops enough that the imager can't resolve a clean decode on dense or damaged labels. Seat the scanner in the cradle and run a full charge before the first use. Once the pack reads above 7.8V under load, normal read performance returns.
My CK31 feels noticeably warm after a long shift — should I be concerned?
Sustained warmth on the CK31 is a normal result of running the 802.11 radio on continuous polling while also firing the scan trigger repeatedly inside a compact housing with limited airflow. The pack itself contributes some heat as it discharges under combined load. What to watch for is heat concentrated at the battery contacts or cradle connector — that points to contact resistance, not normal discharge warmth. Wipe the contacts clean and check that the pack seats flush with no lateral play.
This replacement pack seems to run out faster than my old OEM battery did — what's actually happening?
A new pack that tests short on endurance is almost always in shallow-cycle conditioning, not a capacity defect. Li-ion cells shipped from storage haven't been through a full charge-discharge cycle and the BMS hasn't calibrated its state-of-charge tracking yet. Run two or three complete cycles — full charge in cradle, scan through to the low-battery warning, recharge fully — and the reported and actual capacity will align. If endurance is still noticeably short after three full cycles, check that the pack voltage at full charge reads 8.3–8.4V off the cradle.
