Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoover 39400224 / CATV18LS003 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (48009782)
This 18V 2500mAh (45Wh) Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 48009782 in Hoover cordless stick vacuums. It fits the 39400224, CATV18LS003, 39400207, and ATN18LI011 among other models in this range. When the original cell loses capacity or stops holding charge, this replacement restores full cordless operation.
- Cross-model fit — 39400224 and CATV18LS003 series: These Hoover stick vac models share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One replacement cell covers the full range without adapters or modifications.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Hoover stick vac platform. The BMS engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the charger handshake completed without error codes on first connection.
- Dock charging discipline — critical for this platform: Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock permanently. Hoover cordless stick vacs on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS allows under sustained load — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or bin, not a failing battery. The motor has to work harder against restricted airflow, pulling current above the BMS trip threshold before the cell voltage actually drops. The BMS interprets this as an overcurrent condition and throttles output. Clean the filter and empty the bin first, then retest — most users find suction returns to full strength at the same charge level.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. On sustained restricted suction — carpet pile, blocked nozzle, full bin — the motor draws a spike above the BMS protection threshold and the cell disconnects briefly to protect the pack. After a few seconds the BMS resets and power returns. The fix is to clear the restriction at the nozzle or filter before resuming. If cutouts continue on an unblocked machine, check cell voltage under load — a healthy pack should hold above 15V during normal motor operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Hoover stick vac suction drops off well before the battery light shows low — is the battery already worn out?
Not necessarily — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which causes the BMS to throttle output before the cell voltage actually depletes. Clean the filter and empty the bin, then run it again on the same charge level. If suction returns to normal, the battery is fine and the restriction was the cause. If suction still drops early after a clean filter, check that the replacement cell is seating fully in the bay and the connector pins are making clean contact.
The motor on my Hoover cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on its own — what's happening?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip. When the nozzle or filter is partially blocked, the motor works against restricted airflow and pulls a current spike above the protection threshold, so the pack disconnects briefly to protect itself. Clear the blockage at the nozzle, brush bar, and filter, then resume — the cutouts should stop. If the machine trips on an unblocked run, the cell voltage under load should stay above 15V; anything lower indicates cell degradation.
I left my Hoover on the charging dock for several weeks and now the battery doesn't last as long — can that be reversed?
Continuous dock charging forces the pack into a trickle-charge state that degrades Li-ion cells faster than normal cycle use. Some capacity may return after a few full discharge-and-recharge cycles, but chemically damaged cells rarely recover fully. Going forward, charge only when the battery is depleted and remove the vacuum from the dock once the indicator shows full. If capacity remains noticeably reduced after three or four full cycles on the replacement cell, the issue was with the original pack and the new battery will not carry that damage.
