• FD22 Freedom platform fit: All FD22 variants in this series share the same 21.6V cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A replacement battery must match all three — voltage mismatch or an incompatible BMS signal will prevent the vacuum from powering on at all.

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction airflow is restricted — blocked filter, clogged inlet, or a jammed brush roll — the motor pulls sustained current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets once current demand drops. The fix is to clear the restriction first. If the motor still trips on clean carpet with a fresh filter, check that the replacement battery's BMS is fully initialised: run one complete charge cycle before use.
