Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoover Rhapsody Series — 21.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RABATT22VLI)
This 21.6V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery fits the Hoover Rhapsody cordless stick vacuum range, including the RA22AFG 011, RA22ALG 011, and RA22PTG 011 among others. It replaces OEM part numbers RABATT22VLI, RABAT22VLI, RAP22BAT, 48023809, and 6.20.40.01-0. Capacity is 43.2Wh at 2000mAh — matching the original factory specification.
- Rhapsody platform fit: These models share the same 21.6V nominal rail, battery bay dimensions, and BMS handshake protocol. The cell pack format — 136.60 × 79.00 × 41.00mm — is consistent across the Rhapsody line, so the same battery serves the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge sequences on the Rhapsody platform. The BMS responded correctly to motor-start current draw and held the voltage rail steady during sustained suction loads on both hard floor and carpet settings.
- Dock charging habit for Rhapsody vacuums: Do not leave the Rhapsody on the charging dock permanently. Continuous dock charging accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells faster than charge-when-depleted use. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use cycle.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The Rhapsody motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter can push draw well above the rated operating current. The BMS interprets this sustained overcurrent as a fault condition and throttles output voltage to protect the cell pack. The motor runs weaker, but the battery indicator still shows charge remaining because cell voltage hasn't actually dropped. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers immediately, the battery was not the cause.
Motor cutting out mid-session and recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. On the Rhapsody, it typically happens when the brush roll jams on carpet fibres or a blockage builds in the duct, forcing the motor to spike current repeatedly. The BMS cuts output to protect the cells, then resets once current demand drops — which is why the vacuum restarts after a 30–60 second pause. Clear any blockage at the nozzle or duct and check the brush roll is free-spinning before resuming use.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Rhapsody has strong suction at the start but noticeably weaker suction well before the battery light goes red — is the battery faulty?
Not necessarily. When the Rhapsody filter is partially blocked, the motor pulls higher-than-rated current to compensate for restricted airflow, which triggers the BMS to reduce output voltage before the cell is actually depleted. The battery indicator reads cell voltage, not motor load — so it can still show green while performance is already compromised. Remove and clean the filter, then retest; if suction returns to full strength, the battery is fine.
The Rhapsody cuts out completely during a clean, then starts again after I leave it for a minute — why does this keep happening?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by sustained high current draw, usually from a partial blockage in the duct or a jammed brush roll forcing the motor to spike. The BMS shuts output to protect the cells, then resets once current demand falls — hence the recovery after a short pause. Check the brush roll for tangled fibres and clear the duct path from nozzle to bin. If the motor runs freely after clearing, the trips should stop.
I replaced the original battery with this one but the Rhapsody's runtime feels shorter than it used to with a new original battery — what's causing that?
If the original battery was left on the dock continuously, the charging habits carried over to the replacement can shorten its usable capacity quickly. Li-ion cells in cordless vacuums develop capacity fade significantly faster under trickle-charge conditions than under charge-when-depleted cycling. Remove this battery from the dock as soon as the charge indicator shows full, and only return it when the vacuum needs charging. After three or four full cycles this way, runtime should stabilise at the rated 43.2Wh output.
