Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dyson V10 Slim / V10 Digital Slim Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (398857-01)
This is an 18V, 2500mAh (45Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Dyson V10 Slim cordless stick vacuum (SV18). It fits the V10 Slim, V10 Digital Slim, V10 Digital Slim Fluffy Extra, and V15 Detect, among others. When original battery capacity degrades and runtime shortens noticeably, swapping this cell restores motor voltage without replacing the whole unit.
- V10 and V15 Detect platform fit: These models share the same 18V battery rail, physical latch connector, and BMS handshake protocol. The battery slides into the same rear-mounted port across all listed variants, and the motor controller reads cell state through the same communication pins.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a V10 Slim through multiple charge and discharge cycles. The BMS reported state-of-charge correctly to the LED indicator, and the motor controller did not flag a battery fault at any load level across all three suction modes.
- Dock charging practice on V10 and V15: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the wall dock permanently. Continuous trickle charge from the dock degrades lithium cell capacity faster than normal use cycling. Charge to full and remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the battery can sustain at its current state of health — voltage sags under load even though charge level reads mid-range. A partially blocked filter makes it worse: restricted airflow forces the motor to work harder, pulling amps up and dragging voltage down faster. The V10's motor controller interprets the voltage sag as low battery and reduces power to protect the cell. Clean the filter first, then check whether the behaviour persists with the new cell.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked brush bar, clogged filter, or sealed pickup point — current spikes past the BMS threshold and the circuit opens to protect the cells. After a few seconds the BMS resets, power returns, and the cycle repeats if the restriction is still there. Clear the blockage and check the filter before concluding the battery is at fault. If the trip still occurs on an unobstructed vacuum, measure pack voltage under load — it should hold above 16.5V during normal operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my V10 Slim lose suction halfway through a clean even though the battery indicator still shows charged?
The battery's internal resistance rises as cells age, causing voltage to sag under motor load even when the indicator reads mid-range. The motor controller reads that voltage drop as low power and backs off suction before the indicator catches up. A blocked or dirty filter pushes current draw higher and triggers this earlier. Clean the filter, and if the problem continues, a replacement cell with lower internal resistance will hold voltage steadily through the full clean.
My V10 Digital Slim motor keeps cutting out for a few seconds then comes back on — what's causing it?
That's the BMS tripping on an overcurrent spike, then resetting once current drops back within the safe threshold. It usually means the airpath is partially restricted — check the brush bar for hair wrap, inspect the filter, and clear any blockage at the bin inlet. If the cutout happens on a fully clear vacuum, the original cell's cells are likely too degraded to handle peak motor current without tripping. Swap to the replacement cell and confirm the issue stops.
The new replacement battery charges but the V10's LED flashes an error pattern instead of a solid charge light — what does that mean?
The V10 and V15 platforms verify the battery through a BMS handshake before accepting a charge signal. An error flash pattern usually means the handshake didn't complete on the first connection — this can happen if the battery was stored at a low state of charge before shipping. Plug the charger in and leave it connected for a full uninterrupted charge cycle of at least two hours without disconnecting. If the solid charge light still doesn't appear after one full cycle, check that the battery contacts and charger pins are clean and making firm contact.
