Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoover Rhapsody Series — 21.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RABATT22VLI)
This is a 21.6V, 2500mAh lithium-ion battery that replaces the original pack in the Hoover Rhapsody cordless vacuum. It fits the RA22AFG 011, RA22ALG 011, RA22PTG 011, and over 20 additional Rhapsody variants. The connector and BMS communication match the original Hoover pack exactly.
- Rhapsody platform fit: All listed RA22 variants share the same 21.6V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a Rhapsody unit. The BMS held the 21.6V nominal rail cleanly, overcurrent protection tripped correctly under simulated blockage, and the charger recognised the pack without fault codes.
- Dock charging behaviour on the Rhapsody: Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock continuously. The Rhapsody dock delivers a trickle charge once the pack is full — prolonged dock sitting degrades cell capacity faster than normal cycling. Charge to full, then remove it.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than rated — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or a developing blockage in the brush head. The BMS reads the voltage sag from the extra draw and throttles output to protect the cells before the fuel gauge triggers. The vacuum feels like it's running out of charge when the battery is still above 50%. Clean or replace the filter first, then check the battery — if suction restores immediately after a filter clean, the battery is not the issue.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, tangled brush roll, or a carpet pile that stalls airflow — the motor load spikes above the BMS threshold and the pack shuts off momentarily. The BMS resets automatically once the overcurrent clears, which is why the vacuum restarts on its own. Clear the blockage and confirm the filter is clean; if the cutout continues on an unblocked machine, check that the pack voltage sits at or above 19V on a multimeter after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Hoover Rhapsody used to clean the whole house on one charge — now it barely gets through one room. The battery is less than a year old. What causes this?
Capacity fade this fast almost always comes from continuous dock charging. The Rhapsody dock keeps a trickle charge running after the pack is full, and sustained trickle charge breaks down lithium-ion cells faster than normal charge cycles. Check whether the vacuum lives on the dock permanently — if it does, that is the cause. Going forward, charge to full and remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use.
The Hoover Rhapsody loses suction noticeably but the battery indicator still shows plenty of charge — is the battery actually draining faster or is something else wrong?
A restricted filter makes the motor draw more current than rated, which pulls the pack voltage down under load even though the stored charge is still high. The vacuum feels weak because the cells cannot sustain full motor voltage under that extra strain — not because the pack is empty. Pull and clean the filter, then retest; suction should restore immediately if that was the cause. If suction is still weak on a clean filter with a fresh battery, check the brush roll for hair wrap restricting airflow.
I fitted the new 21.6V replacement battery in my Rhapsody but the charger light just flashes and never goes to a solid charge. What is happening?
The Hoover charger runs a handshake with the BMS before it starts a full charge cycle — if the pack arrives deeply discharged from storage, the charger can reject it at that initial check. Connect the battery and leave it on the charger for 30 minutes without interrupting it; most Hoover chargers will attempt a low-current recovery pulse that brings the pack up to a voltage the handshake accepts. If the light pattern changes to a steady charge indicator after that window, the pack is recovering normally. If it still flashes after 45 minutes, measure the pack voltage directly — it should read at least 17V to confirm the cells are live.
