Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Split x2 13-R010dx — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SK02XL)
This is a 7.4V, 4050mAh (29.97Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP Split x2 detachable hybrid. It fits the tablet base unit — the component that operates independently once separated from the keyboard dock. Compatible models include the Split x2 13-R010dx 13.3, Pavilion 13-R030CA X2 Detachable PC, TPN-C118, and TPN-C119.
- Split x2 tablet base fit: These models share the same detachable tablet chassis, voltage rail, and thin-profile Li-Polymer connector. The BMS handshake is identical across the TPN-C118 and TPN-C119 variants, so the same cell works across all listed units without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Split x2 unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at capacity, and voltage stayed stable under combined CPU and display load.
- Post-install discharge cycle on the Split x2: After fitting, run the tablet on battery until it hits hibernate cutoff — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap on this platform.
Why the Split x2 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health immediately after swap
The Split x2 stores battery health data in EEPROM tied to the original cell. When a new cell is installed, the BIOS reads zero charge history and flags the battery as degraded — even though the cell is new. This is a firmware reporting issue, not a hardware fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate then a complete uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS enough cycle data to recalibrate. After one or two cycles the health status updates to normal.
Split x2 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell yet. The percentage shown is based on voltage curves stored for the old cell, so the displayed figure doesn't match actual remaining capacity. Under full CPU and display load, the new cell hits a voltage cliff the old calibration data doesn't account for, and the system shuts down as a protection response. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles with uninterrupted charges to completion — after that the fuel gauge IC re-maps against the new cell and the cutoff behaviour resolves. Confirm the cell is reading above 8.2V at full charge before trusting the percentage gauge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The HP Split x2 shows the battery as "unknown" or 0% straight after I put the new one in — is it dead?
The BIOS is reading EEPROM data from the old cell and has no history for the new one, so it reports unknown or zero. The cell itself is fine. Run a full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. After that first complete cycle the BIOS registers the new cell and the percentage display returns to normal.
My Split x2 is only charging to 80% and stopping — did I get a faulty battery?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. HP's firmware on some Split x2 units activates a battery care mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term wear. Go to HP Support Assistant or the BIOS power settings and disable the charge limit or "battery health manager" option. Once disabled, the cell will charge to 100%.
Windows is showing the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from the spec on the listing.
Windows pulls the Wh figure from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the original factory-rated capacity of the old cell. The new cell's actual chemistry rating may differ slightly from what the old EEPROM reported. This is a display discrepancy, not a capacity fault — the cell still delivers its full 29.97Wh. After two full charge and discharge cycles Windows recalculates from measured data and the reported figure aligns with the actual cell spec.
