Fits Huawei Ascend Mate and MT1-U06 models, replaces HB496791EBC and HB496791EBW.
3.8V, 3900mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full-charge capacity to aging devices.
Connector seats into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left edge.
We ran charge cycles and discharge curves on the MT1-U06 platform—BMS accepted input immediately, fuel gauge IC required recalibration after first full cycle.
On first charge after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei Ascend Mate — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HB496791EBC)

This is a 3.8V, 3900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Huawei Ascend Mate series. It fits the MT1-U0, MT1-U06, and Ascend Mate 2, among other variants in the same platform family. Capacity is 14.82Wh — matched to the original cell specification.

  • Ascend Mate platform compatibility: The MT1-U0 and MT1-U06 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol as the wider Ascend Mate lineup. One cell fits both because Huawei standardised the power rail across this screen-size tier.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the Ascend Mate platform and confirmed the BMS accepted charge negotiation without fault codes. The protection circuit held cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold and did not trip during screen-on load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: Disable fast charging for the first full discharge-charge cycle after fitting this cell. The fuel gauge IC on the Ascend Mate is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — letting it complete one uninterrupted cycle at standard current gives it a clean baseline before high-current charging begins.

Why the Ascend Mate reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Ascend Mate uses a coulomb counter in the fuel gauge IC to track charge state. When you swap the physical cell, the IC still holds the learned discharge curve from the old battery. The new cell has a different impedance profile, so the percentage shown on screen drifts from actual charge state. One complete discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and re-anchors the gauge to the new cell's curve.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage cliff — the point where cell voltage drops sharply under modem or display load. The phone's reported percentage still shows 20–30%, but actual cell voltage sags below the hardware protection threshold the moment a high-draw process fires. Run one full calibration cycle first — discharge until the phone shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the gauge maps the cliff correctly and shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ascend Mate won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out below roughly 2.5V per cell to prevent damage, and a battery stored flat for months often sits below that threshold. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold; once it crosses approximately 3.0V, the BMS releases and the phone will power on normally.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in after fitting this battery — charger shows slow charge only.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the new cell sometimes does not complete the handshake with Huawei's proprietary charge protocol fast enough for the charge IC to step up current. Unplug, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect using the original Huawei wall adapter — not a third-party USB-C charger. If fast charge still does not engage, complete one full standard-rate charge cycle first; the BMS handshake succeeds reliably from the second cycle onward.

The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery area during the first few charges — is something wrong?

A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a well-cycled one, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during early cycles. This is normal and typically levels off after three to five charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the back of the phone becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, that is above the expected range — check that the replacement cell dimensions (89.57 x 66.61 x 4.33mm) match and that the battery connector is fully seated before charging again.
