Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Husqvarna PR140Li / PR280Li — 58V Li-ion Replacement Battery (590 92 38-01)
This is a 58V, 3000mAh (174Wh) Li-ion battery for Husqvarna's 58V cordless outdoor power platform. It replaces OEM part numbers PR140Li, PR280Li, 590 92 38-01, 590 92 38-04, and related variants. It fits Husqvarna cordless lawn mowers and outdoor cutting equipment running on the 58V system.
- 58V platform compatibility: The PR140Li and PR280Li share the same 58V voltage rail, connector format, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one replacement cell pack covers both OEM part numbers across the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through simulated blade-motor inrush cycles on the 58V platform. The BMS held through repeated high-draw start events without false trip, and cell balance stayed within spec across full discharge cycles.
- Seasonal storage prep: Before first use of the season, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current on a cold pack can trip the BMS before the mower moves a metre.
BMS cutoff during thick-grass or wet-grass blade load
The 58V blade motor draws significantly more current cutting dense or wet grass than dry open turf. When instantaneous current spikes beyond the BMS threshold, the pack cuts power as a protection response — it is not a fault, it is the BMS doing its job. This typically shows as a sudden stop mid-row, sometimes with a brief LED flash on the battery. If this happens repeatedly in the same conditions, slow down the mowing pace to reduce continuous load on the motor, which keeps draw below the BMS trip point.
Charger rejecting the pack after winter garage storage
Li-ion cells stored at low charge over winter can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage — typically under 2.5V per cell. The charger reads this as a fault and refuses to begin a charge cycle. To recover the pack, leave it at room temperature (above 15°C) for several hours, then attempt charging again. If the charger still shows a fault after two attempts at room temperature, the cells have self-discharged past safe recovery and the pack should be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Husqvarna mower cuts out in the middle of a row and then comes back on after a minute — what's causing that?
That is thermal protection in the BMS triggering under sustained blade-motor load, particularly in thick or damp grass. The pack heats up, the BMS cuts output to protect the cells, and it resets once temperature drops. Let the battery sit out of the mower for at least five minutes before restarting — do not just re-seat it immediately. If it keeps cutting out on normal grass, check that the blade is sharp; a dull blade forces the motor to draw harder and longer on every pass.
The charger was fine all summer but now it's showing a fault light and won't charge the battery — it's been sitting in the shed since October. Why?
Over winter, Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly. If the pack dropped below the charger's minimum acceptance threshold — around 2.5V per cell — the charger refuses to begin a charge cycle and shows a fault. Bring the battery indoors and leave it at room temperature for at least four hours, then try the charger again. If it still rejects the pack after two attempts at 20°C or above, the cells are below safe recovery voltage and the pack needs replacing.
This new battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one after a full mow — should I be concerned?
New Li-ion cells run warmer for the first several charge and discharge cycles while the cells condition and balance internally. This is normal and typically settles after five full cycles. Warm to the touch after a mow is expected — hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold is not. If the pack is still running unusually hot after five full discharge cycles, check that nothing is blocking the battery compartment vents on the mower deck, as restricted airflow accelerates heat build-up during high-draw cutting.
