Fits Inrico BS-81G two-way radio; replaces OEM battery part number B-81I.
Delivers 3.85V and 5900mAh capacity for sustained transmission cycles without voltage sag during extended shifts.
Gold connector inserts vertically into radio battery slot; locking tab seats flush against radio housing rear.
We bench-tested this cell in a BS-81G radio under sustained PTT load; BMS accepted the pack on first dock cycle with no fault LED.
On first insertion, if the charger dock shows a fault light, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Inrico platform requires a clean contact cycle for the new BMS handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Inrico BS-81G — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B-81I)

This 3.85V, 5900mAh Li-ion battery replaces the B-81I pack in the Inrico BS-81G two-way radio. It fits the BS-81G directly and matches the original voltage rail and connector profile. The 22.72Wh capacity supports full-shift use by security, events, and emergency response crews.

  • BS-81G platform fit: The BS-81G runs a single-cell 3.85V architecture. This pack matches that rail exactly. The BMS communicates with the radio's charge management circuit using the same handshake protocol as the original B-81I, so the radio accepts the pack without throwing a fault state.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit and standby loads on the BS-81G platform. The BMS handled PTT-triggered current spikes without tripping into overcurrent lockout. Charge termination was clean at full voltage with no false-positive fault signals from the dock.
  • First insertion on the BS-81G charger dock: If the dock LED shows a fault on first insertion, remove the pack and wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The BS-81G charger checks contact resistance before initiating the charge cycle — a single residue layer on the contacts is enough to trigger a rejection flag.

BS-81G bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new B-81I pack

The BS-81G uses voltage thresholds to calculate the bar indicator — it does not read capacity directly. A new pack ships at storage voltage, typically around 3.6–3.7V, which sits below the top threshold for a full-bar reading. The radio correctly interprets this as not-full, because at that voltage it is not full. Run one complete charge cycle through the dock and the indicator will reflect the actual resting voltage of a fully charged cell, which sits at 4.2V for this chemistry.

BS-81G drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a charged pack

Sustained RF output draws significantly more current than standby, and if the pack's internal impedance is elevated, voltage sags under that load. The BS-81G responds to a voltage sag by stepping down transmit power to protect the circuit. This is not a faulty battery — it is the radio managing a real voltage drop. Check resting voltage after the radio cools; if it recovers above 3.7V, impedance is the cause. A full discharge and recharge cycle can reduce impedance slightly on a new pack in its first few cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

The BS-81G charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging the new B-81I pack — what's wrong?

The BS-81G dock checks pack voltage before it starts a charge cycle, and a new pack at storage voltage can sit just below the dock's acceptance threshold. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reinsert firmly. If the fault clears, the contact resistance was the trigger — if it doesn't, leave the pack in the dock for 10–15 minutes, as some docks will trickle from below-threshold before switching to full charge mode.

My BS-81G cuts out completely mid-transmission with the new battery — it wasn't doing this with the old pack.

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a radio fault. PTT triggers a sharp current spike as the transmitter powers up, and a new pack's BMS is more conservative than a worn cell that has softened over cycles. The trip resets automatically when you release PTT. After three or four full charge-discharge cycles, the BMS learns the platform's load profile and the cutouts stop — keep using it normally.

The BS-81G shows a full charge on the dock but the bar indicator drops to two bars within the first hour of a shift.

The bar indicator on the BS-81G is driven by real-time voltage, not a stored capacity reading. Heavy PTT use pulls voltage down faster than standby use does, and two bars at that point reflects the actual cell voltage under load — not a fault with the pack. Let the radio sit idle for two minutes and check the bars again; if they recover to three or four, the cell is healthy and the drop was load-driven. If bars stay low at rest, charge the pack fully and re-check resting voltage — it should read at or above 4.1V off the dock.
