Fits iBoto Smart Aqua X420GW, Smart C820W Aqua, and Smart L920SW Aqua robotic vacuums.
14.4V and 2600mAh capacity sustains floor cleaning cycles on carpets and hard floors without mid-run motor dropout.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a locking tab that seats flush—verify orientation before inserting to avoid contact misalignment.
We bench tested the pack on the X420GW motor load circuit; the BMS held steady through sustained suction draw with no premature cutoff.
Do not leave this cell on the charging dock after reaching full charge—continuous trickle charging causes capacity fade within weeks on iBoto platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iBoto Smart Aqua X420GW — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 14.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original power cell in the iBoto Smart Aqua X420GW, Smart C820W Aqua, and Smart L920SW Aqua robotic vacuum cleaners. It fits the same cell housing and connector as the factory pack. Capacity is 2600mAh (37.44Wh), matching the rated spec for these models.

  • X420GW, C820W Aqua, L920SW Aqua compatibility: These three models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector orientation, and BMS communication protocol. The cell dimensions are 70 × 38 × 38mm across all three, so the pack seats and locks without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran discharge cycles on this pack and monitored BMS cutoff behaviour. The protection circuit tripped cleanly at low-voltage threshold and reset correctly on reconnection to the charger — no lockout condition observed.
  • Dock charging habit on robotic vacuums: Do not leave the unit sitting on the charging dock permanently between uses. Continuous trickle charging accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion packs faster than regular charge-and-remove cycles. Charge fully, then remove from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS allows under sustained load — typically caused by a partially blocked filter or brush roll restriction. The pack still holds charge, but voltage sags under the increased draw and the BMS reduces output to protect the cells. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before concluding the battery is at fault. A healthy pack under normal filter conditions will hold motor voltage above 12.5V through most of the cycle.

Motor cuts out mid-cycle and then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. When suction is restricted — blocked inlet, clogged filter, tangled brush — the motor spikes current draw beyond the BMS threshold and the circuit opens. It resets automatically after a brief cooldown, which is why the vacuum appears to restart on its own. Clear the blockage first. If cut-outs continue on a clean filter with a new battery, check that the charger is delivering a full charge cycle and that pack voltage reads at least 16.0V immediately after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iBoto robotic vacuum loses suction halfway through a clean even though the battery indicator still shows plenty of charge — is the battery dying?

Not necessarily — this is often the motor drawing excess current through a restricted airway, causing voltage to sag before the indicator registers low. Check and clean the filter first, then inspect the brush roll for hair or debris wrap. A restricted motor can pull well above rated current, which drags cell voltage down even on a healthy pack. If suction holds normally after clearing the filter, the battery is not the cause.

The replacement battery won't start a charge cycle — the dock light doesn't respond the way it did with the original pack.

Some iBoto chargers expect a BMS handshake before beginning the charge cycle, and a deeply discharged replacement cell may not respond immediately. Connect the battery to the dock and leave it for 15–20 minutes without interruption — the BMS needs a trickle recovery phase before the main charge cycle initiates. If the dock light still shows no activity after that, measure pack voltage directly at the terminals; anything below 10V indicates a deep-discharge state that requires a compatible charger with a recovery mode. Do not continue attempting to charge a pack reading below 9V.

My iBoto's battery faded noticeably within a few months of fitting the replacement — it holds far less charge than when new.

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of accelerated capacity fade in these robotic vacuums. When the unit sits docked permanently, the charger delivers a sustained low-level charge that stresses Li-ion cells over weeks. Charge the pack to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it to charge when depleted. A pack that has not been on continuous dock charge should read between 16.0V and 16.8V immediately after a full charge cycle completes.
