Fits V-tac VT-5555 and VT-5556 cordless vacuum models; replaces original 14.4V lithium-ion packs.
Delivers 14.4V and 2600mAh capacity; sustains motor torque on carpet and hard floors without mid-cycle sag.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay with a positive lock tab; no force needed.
We tested the BMS under sustained motor draw on carpet blockage; the circuit held stable without nuisance cutoff.
Remove this pack from the charging dock as soon as it reaches full charge — continuous dock contact degrades capacity faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V-tac VT-5555 / VT-5556 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V 2600mAh Li-ion battery pack for the V-tac VT-5555 and VT-5556 cordless stick vacuums. It replaces a worn original cell that has lost capacity through repeated charge cycles. Voltage and connector match the stock configuration on both models.

  • VT-5555 and VT-5556 compatibility: Both models run the same 14.4V motor rail and use the same battery housing and connector. One cell fits either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on representative 14.4V vacuum hardware. The BMS responded correctly to motor-start current draw and cut off cleanly at low-voltage threshold without false trips under normal suction load.
  • Dock charging on the VT-5555 and VT-5556: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. These units trickle charge when left docked, and continuous trickle charge accelerates cell degradation noticeably faster than charging only when the battery is depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the VT-5555

This happens because the motor draws more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling higher amps than the BMS expects at that state of charge. Voltage sags under that elevated load even though the cell still has usable capacity remaining. The indicator reads the resting voltage, not the loaded voltage, so it shows charge remaining while suction is already weak. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the issue.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is sustained against a blockage or a heavily loaded carpet, current draw spikes above the BMS trip threshold and the pack disconnects to protect the cells. The BMS resets after a short cooldown, which is why power returns. Clear any blockage, check the filter is clean, and retry — if the cutouts stop, the cell is functioning correctly. If they persist on a clear airway, verify the charger brought the pack to a full 16.8V before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V-tac VT-5555 has noticeably less suction than it used to but the battery indicator still shows full — what's going on?

A worn cell loses the ability to hold voltage under load even when it reads full at rest. The indicator checks resting voltage, not loaded voltage, so it looks healthy until the motor demands current and the voltage collapses. First rule out a blocked filter — a restricted airway makes the motor draw excess current and mimics a weak battery exactly. If suction is still poor with a clean filter and a fully charged new pack, check that the charger brought the cell to 16.8V before use.

My replacement battery charges fine but the VT-5556 motor keeps cutting out and recovering every minute or so during normal use — is this a faulty cell?

This is almost always a BMS overcurrent trip rather than a defective cell. The BMS disconnects the pack when current exceeds its rated limit, then resets after a brief cooldown — that cycling is what you're seeing. On these stick vacuums, a partially blocked filter or a floor nozzle jammed with debris causes the motor to pull well above normal operating current. Clean the filter and clear the nozzle, then test again on a hard floor before assuming the battery is at fault.

After leaving my VT-5555 on the dock for several weeks, the battery now drains much faster than when it was new — did I damage it?

Yes, continuous dock charging degrades Li-ion cells faster than normal cycling. The charger keeps the pack at or near full charge indefinitely, and sustained high state-of-charge accelerates capacity loss in lithium cells. With this replacement pack, charge only when the battery is depleted, then remove the vacuum from the dock once charging is complete. That single habit change significantly slows capacity fade going forward.
