Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Inrico T-298S / T320 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (B-87C)
This is a 3.8V 3400mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Inrico T-298S and T320 portable digital radios. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original B-87C and BAT320 packs. The T-298S and T320 are used in security, logistics, and enterprise field operations where continuous radio contact is non-negotiable.
- T-298S and T320 compatibility: Both models share the same 3.8V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack fits both. The BMS on each radio uses the same voltage thresholds for charge acceptance and bar-indicator readout.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and full-transmit draw on the T320 platform. The BMS handled the PTT current spike without tripping into overcurrent lockout, and voltage held steady across sustained RF output.
- First insertion on a charger dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Inrico dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it begins charging.
Why the T-298S drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a fresh pack
A new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — not at full charge. When the radio draws peak transmit current from a partially charged cell, internal resistance causes a sharper voltage sag than it would on a fully charged pack. The T-298S interprets that sag as low battery and steps down TX power to protect the RF stage. Running a full charge cycle before field deployment eliminates this behaviour entirely.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the B-87C
The T-298S and T320 use simple voltage-threshold bar indicators — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a calculated charge percentage. A new cell at storage voltage sits in a lower band and displays one or two bars even though the pack is not depleted. Charge the battery fully in the dock until the indicator goes solid green. After a complete charge cycle the bar display will read correctly at the top threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My T-298S cuts out completely when I press PTT — is the new battery faulty?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The transmit current spike when PTT is pressed briefly exceeds the BMS protection threshold if the pack is at storage voltage rather than full charge. Charge the pack fully before first use and the BMS will have enough headroom to handle the PTT surge without cutting out. If it still trips after a full charge, check that the gold contacts are clean and fully seated — a high-resistance connection amplifies the apparent current spike.
The charger dock fault LED came on when I inserted the new B-87C and it never cleared — what's wrong?
Most dock fault LEDs on Inrico chargers trigger when the pack voltage is below the dock's acceptance threshold, which is common on a cell shipped at storage voltage. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly to ensure a clean BMS handshake. If the fault LED still won't clear, leave the pack seated for 60 seconds — some Inrico docks require a brief contact hold before they attempt a recovery charge on a low-voltage pack. If the dock then begins a slow charge, let it complete the full cycle before using the radio.
The T320 shows a full charge on the dock but drops two bars the moment I key up — is there a calibration issue?
There is no calibration process on the T320 — the bar indicator reads voltage thresholds directly. A two-bar drop on first PTT press points to voltage sag under transmit load, which means cell impedance is higher than expected at that charge state. Run one or two full charge-discharge cycles on the pack; Li-Polymer cells often show elevated impedance until the electrolyte has distributed evenly through the electrode stack. After two full cycles, check open-circuit voltage with a multimeter — a healthy fully charged 3.8V Li-Polymer cell should read between 4.35V and 4.40V before load.
