Fits Insignia NS-DSC1112SL digital camera; replaces OEM battery CS-LI40B.
3.7V, 660mAh lithium-ion cell delivers consistent power for sensor and autofocus functions throughout shooting sessions.
Connector seats into the camera battery door slot with positive terminal facing the spring contact; no adapter required.
We cycled the pack through ten full charge-discharge runs in the camera body; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion with no authentication errors.
On first use, charge fully in the camera body rather than an external charger — the Insignia BMS requires one internal charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve to the battery-remaining display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Insignia NS-DSC1112SL — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 660mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Insignia NS-DSC1112SL compact digital camera. It restores power to the imaging sensor, onboard processor, and flash system. Dimensions are 40.00 x 31.10 x 5.90mm — matching the original cell's footprint in the battery bay.

  • NS-DSC1112SL battery bay fit: The NS-DSC1112SL uses a slim single-cell bay with no latch tolerance for oversized cells. This cell matches the original's physical envelope exactly, so the door closes and the contacts seat flush.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the NS-DSC1112SL body. The BMS accepted the cell, voltage held steady through flash capacitor recharge cycles, and the battery-remaining indicator tracked discharge without sudden drops.
  • First-cycle initialisation on the NS-DSC1112SL: Run the first full charge through the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. Some compact camera BMS systems need one supervised charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve to the battery indicator correctly.

Flash recycling slowing down near end of charge on the NS-DSC1112SL

The NS-DSC1112SL recharges its flash capacitor from the main cell between every shot. As the cell approaches its lower voltage threshold, current delivery to the capacitor drops. This makes the recycling interval between flashes stretch noticeably. It is not a fault with the flash unit — it is the cell's output voltage falling below the threshold the charging circuit needs for fast capacitor refill. Swap or recharge the cell when flash recycling slows and the camera body feels sluggish to respond.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the NS-DSC1112SL display

Compact camera fuel gauges map voltage steps to percentage bands calibrated to the original factory cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell may discharge along a slightly different curve, causing the indicator to jump — for example, from 80% to 40% without warning. This is a mapping mismatch, not a faulty cell. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator will stabilise as the BMS recalibrates its threshold points to the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NS-DSC1112SL shows "no battery" or won't power on after I installed the replacement cell — what's wrong?

The camera's BMS runs a quick authentication check on first contact with a new cell, and if the cell voltage sits slightly below the minimum recognition threshold after shipping, the camera reads it as absent. Place the cell in the camera body and connect it to charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charger indicator shows activity, the cell is fine and the camera will recognise it once voltage climbs above 3.6V. Power cycle the camera after that first charge and it should boot normally.

The NS-DSC1112SL shot count is much lower than I expected — is the replacement cell undersized?

Shot count on compact cameras drops fast when flash, continuous autofocus, and the LCD are all active simultaneously — those loads stack on top of sensor and processor draw well beyond the base spec. The rated 660mAh reflects cell capacity, not a guaranteed shot count under any specific shooting mode. Shoot with the LCD brightness reduced and limit continuous flash use if you need to extend a session. Cold ambient temperatures also compress usable capacity temporarily, so indoor charging before outdoor use helps.

The NS-DSC1112SL body gets noticeably warm during video recording with the new battery — is that normal?

Sustained video recording pulls simultaneous current from the sensor, image processor, and stabilisation system — a combined draw significantly higher than still photography. The cell and camera body both warm under that load, and that is expected behaviour for this class of compact camera. The BMS will cut output if internal temperature reaches its safety threshold, which will pause recording. Keep recording clips under five minutes in warm environments and allow the body to cool between takes.
