This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM unit in the Intermec Thor CV31 vehicle-mounted computer terminal. The CV31 runs in logistics and warehouse environments where it handles barcode scanning and on-road data collection. It also crosses to OEM references VE33-8020-A0 and 213-042-001.

  • Thor CV31 platform fit: The CV31 uses this cell as a hot-swap backup that bridges power during vehicle ignition cycles. The connector pinout and BMS handshake match the original, so the terminal's power management firmware recognises the cell without prompts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through simulated ignition-cycle events and confirmed the BMS holds the terminal alive through the 3–10 second gap between vehicle start and main power restoration. No unexpected BMS cutoff was triggered during cold-start draw.

Hot-swap battery not bridging power during ignition start

Charge the cell fully before installation.

Terminal not recovering after a full power loss

If main vehicle power is cut while the hot-swap battery is also depleted, the CV31 goes into a cold-boot sequence on reconnection. This boot takes 30–60 seconds — longer than most users expect. The terminal is not frozen; it is reinitialising its operating environment. Wait for the full boot cycle to complete before assuming a fault. If the terminal does not reach the home screen, check that main supply voltage is stable at the docking connector before suspecting the battery.

The hot-swap battery is likely installed but undercharged. At ignition start, the CV31 pulls peak current for up to 10 seconds, and a partially charged cell cannot sustain that draw. The terminal resets instead of bridging the gap, which wipes the active session. Fully charge this battery to at least 4.1V before fitting it, and confirm it reads charged in the CV31's battery status screen.

The CV31 just sits at a blank screen for over a minute after power is restored — is the battery dead?

That blank screen is the CV31's normal cold-boot sequence, not a battery failure. When both main power and the hot-swap cell have been fully cut, the terminal reinitialises its full OS stack on reconnect, which takes 30–60 seconds. Let the boot cycle finish without interrupting power. If the screen stays blank past 90 seconds, check the docking connector for a stable supply voltage — a marginal connection stalls the boot sequence before the battery becomes a factor.

The Thor CV31 shows a battery icon but won't power on from the hot-swap cell alone — what voltage does it need to boot?

The CV31 requires the hot-swap cell to be above approximately 3.5V before its BMS will authorise the boot sequence. A cell that reads "present" on the status screen can still be too low to actually start the terminal. Connect to vehicle main power first to bring the unit online, then allow the CV31 to charge the hot-swap cell internally to full before relying on it as a standalone power source.
