Fits iRobot Braava Jet 240, Braava Jet 241, Braava Jet 244, and Braava Jet 245 mopping robots, replacing OEM part numbers 4446040 and BC674.
This 3.6V 2000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the voltage and capacity needed to restore full motor power and navigation runtime on floor-cleaning cycles.
Connector seats into the robot's rear battery slot with a vertical push-fit orientation; no locking tab, straight contact alignment required.
We bench-tested this pack on a Braava Jet 240 platform; the BMS accepted charge immediately and held steady voltage under the motor's sustained draw.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously after reaching full charge — cordless floor robots develop capacity fade faster under trickle charge than when removed and stored unplugged between uses.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRobot Braava Jet 240 Series — 3.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (4446040)

This is a 3.6V 2000mAh Li-ion battery for the iRobot Braava Jet 240, 241, 244, and 245 robotic floor mopping units. It slots into the rear battery compartment and powers the motor, navigation, and pad-vibration systems. Capacity is sourced from product data at 7.2Wh.

  • Braava Jet 240 series compatibility: The 240, 241, 244, and 245 share the same 3.6V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between these models is straightforward — the cell geometry and communication lines are identical across the series.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Braava Jet 240's charge cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake without fault codes. The charging circuit held a steady current draw and the battery reached full charge without thermal events or cutoff interruptions.
  • Wet-mopping pad cycle care: The Braava Jet 240 runs wet pad cycles that stress the motor more than dry sweeping passes. If the robot is stored with a wet pad attached after a cycle, residual moisture near the battery contacts can accelerate corrosion — always remove and dry the pad before storing the unit.

Capacity fade on the Braava Jet 240 after shallow charge cycles

The Braava Jet 240 is a low-draw device, and many users charge it after every short mopping pass rather than running it to depletion. Li-ion cells in low-draw devices degrade faster from repeated shallow cycles than from full charge-discharge cycles. Over time, the BMS recalibrates its state-of-charge window downward, and the robot shuts off earlier than expected even on a freshly charged cell. If the original battery was charged daily after brief sessions, the replacement cell will restore full capacity — but the same shallow-cycle habit will degrade it at the same rate.

Braava Jet 240 not responding after battery replacement — no movement, no indicator lights

This happens when the BMS in the new cell has not been initialised by the charger. The Braava Jet 240's firmware expects a specific voltage handshake before it will power the motor or light the status LEDs. Seat the battery, connect the dock charger, and leave it for at least 60 seconds before pressing the clean button — this gives the BMS time to complete its initial communication with the charger circuit. If the indicator still does not light, confirm the dock contacts are clean and the supply voltage at the dock output reads 5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Braava Jet 240 stops mid-clean and then starts again after sitting for a minute — what's causing that?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. The Braava Jet 240's BMS cuts power when the motor draws above its rated threshold — typically caused by a clogged or saturated cleaning pad creating extra resistance. Remove the pad, rinse and dry it fully, then reattach. If the cut-outs stop, the pad was the cause, not the battery.

The replacement battery charges fine but the Braava Jet 240 runs for noticeably less time than it used to on a full charge — is the new cell faulty?

Not necessarily. If the pad spray nozzle is partially blocked, the motor works harder to compensate, drawing more current than rated and depleting the cell faster. Flush the nozzle port with warm water and run one dry pad cycle to confirm the spray is clear. A blocked nozzle is the most common reason a new 2000mAh cell underperforms against expectation on this unit.

The Braava Jet 240 won't charge at all after sitting unused for several months — dock light stays off.

Extended storage drains the cell below the BMS's minimum recovery threshold — around 2.5V for this 3.6V Li-ion cell. The BMS locks out charging to prevent damage to a deeply discharged cell. Place the battery in the dock and leave it connected for 30–60 minutes without pressing any buttons; some chargers deliver a low-current pre-charge pulse that can bring the cell back above the recovery threshold. If the dock light still does not activate after that period, the cell has self-discharged beyond recoverable voltage and will need replacement.
