Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRobot Roomba 614 / 640 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1800LI)
This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh lithium-ion battery for the iRobot Roomba 614 and its close relatives — the 615, 640, 652, and more than two dozen additional Roomba models sharing the same battery bay and connector. It replaces OEM part numbers 1800LI, 2130LI, 4374392, 4376392, 4462425, and 4502233. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the Roomba shuts down shortly after leaving the dock.
- 600-series Roomba compatibility: These models share a common 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping across 614, 615, 640, and 652 units works because the charging circuit and communication lines are identical across the platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Roomba 640 through multiple charge and discharge cycles. The BMS responded correctly to the onboard charger, cells balanced without error flags, and the unit completed full cleaning cycles without mid-run cutoff.
- Dock charging habit on the 600 series: Roomba 600-series units left permanently on the Home Base trickle-charge continuously. That sustained low-level current accelerates capacity fade in lithium cells. Charge to full, then lift the unit off the dock until the next clean.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The Roomba's motor pulls more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or full bin forces the motor to work harder against back-pressure. That elevated draw causes voltage to sag under load, even when the cell is not depleted. The BMS reads the voltage drop and reduces power to the motor as a protection measure. Clear the filter and empty the bin first; if the problem stops, the battery is fine — the root cause was airflow, not capacity.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the Roomba hits thick carpet, a rug edge, or a partial blockage, the motor briefly spikes well above its rated current draw. The BMS opens the discharge circuit to protect the cells, which looks like the unit switching off. After a short pause, the BMS resets and power returns. Check the brush roll for tangled hair or debris jamming rotation — that sustained mechanical resistance is the most common trigger for overcurrent trips on the 614.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Roomba 614 shuts off within a few minutes of leaving the dock even with a new battery — what's causing that?
A partially clogged filter is the most likely cause, not the battery. Restricted airflow forces the motor to draw excess current, which trips the BMS overcurrent cutoff and shuts the unit down early. Clean or replace the filter, clear the brush roll of hair, and empty the bin completely. If the runtime extends after that, the cell is fine — the motor load was the problem.
The Roomba runs noticeably shorter than it used to, but the battery is only a few months old — did I damage it by leaving it on the dock?
Yes — continuous dock contact is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Roomba 600-series lithium batteries. The Home Base delivers a trickle charge indefinitely, and sustained low-level current into a full cell degrades the cell chemistry over time. The damage compounds with each week of uninterrupted dock contact. Going forward, charge to full and remove the unit from the dock between cleaning sessions.
After fitting the replacement battery, the Roomba just blinks and won't start a clean cycle — is the battery faulty?
Not necessarily. The Roomba 600 series requires the battery's BMS to complete a handshake with the onboard charger before the unit will operate. If the cell shipped in a deep-discharge state, seat it in the dock and leave it on charge for a full uninterrupted cycle — typically indicated by the dock light going solid. If the unit still blinks after a full charge, press and hold the CLEAN button for 10 seconds to force a factory reset, which clears any fault state held in memory.
