Fits Kärcher KC55 and KC55 cordless vacuums; replaces OEM part 28100010.
4.8V, 3000mAh Ni-MH delivers rated suction across carpet and hard floors without voltage sag.
Connector slides into the dock slot with a quarter-turn clockwise lock; orientation keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We charged through the Kärcher dock and observed steady voltage climb with no BMS cutoff until full; discharge testing showed consistent power delivery through the motor cycle.
Remove this battery from the charging dock immediately after reaching full charge — Ni-MH packs left on continuous trickle charge develop permanent capacity loss within weeks.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Karcher KC55 Cordless Vacuum — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (28100010)

This is a 4.8V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Kärcher KC55 handheld vacuum cleaner and K55 Cordless Electric Broom. It replaces OEM part numbers 28100010, 6.654-118.0, and GP 160SCHE. Fit models include KC55, 1.258-505.0, and 1258-5050 variants.

  • KC55 and K55 Cordless Broom compatibility: These models share the same 4.8V cell pack configuration, connector footprint, and BMS handshake requirements. The motor controller expects a specific voltage rise profile on startup — this cell pack matches that curve.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on a KC55 unit. The BMS held cutoff correctly at low-cell voltage, and the motor drew within rated current on both hard floor and simulated carpet load.
  • Dock charging behaviour on the KC55: Do not leave the KC55 on the charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells in this vacuum develop capacity fade significantly faster under continuous trickle charge. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on KC55

This happens when the motor is pulling more current than the cell pack can sustain under load — voltage sags early even though the indicator still reads mid-range. A partially blocked filter is the most common trigger. With restricted airflow, the motor works harder, draws more current, and the cell voltage drops faster than the indicator expects. Clean or replace the filter first, then test the battery under normal load to confirm whether the pack itself needs replacing.

KC55 motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is sustained against a blockage or a clogged filter, current draw spikes above the pack's safe threshold and the BMS shuts the circuit. After a short rest, the BMS resets and the motor starts again. The fix is clearing the blockage or replacing the filter — not the battery. If the cutout continues with a clean filter and no blockage, test cell voltage at rest; it should read above 4.6V on a fully charged pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

My KC55 loses suction halfway through cleaning even though the battery light isn't on low — is the battery failing?

Not necessarily. On the KC55, suction drops mid-clean when the motor is restricted and drawing more current than the pack can deliver steadily — voltage sags before the indicator catches up. Check and clean the filter first, because a blocked filter is the most common cause of this exact symptom. If suction stays strong with a clean filter, the cell pack may have lost capacity. Test resting voltage after a full charge — a healthy 4.8V Ni-MH pack should read at or above 4.8V off the dock.

The KC55 motor shuts off during use and starts again after I leave it for a minute — what's happening?

The BMS is tripping on overcurrent, then resetting after the pack cools slightly. This happens when airflow is restricted — a blocked nozzle or saturated filter forces the motor to spike current beyond the pack's rated limit. Clear any blockage in the nozzle or hose, then replace or clean the filter. If cutouts stop after that, the battery is fine — the restricted airflow was the cause.

The replacement battery charged fully but the KC55 loses power much faster than it used to — what causes that?

Ni-MH cells in the KC55 degrade from continuous dock charging — the trickle charge that keeps the pack topped up slowly damages cell capacity over time. If the previous battery sat on the dock permanently, the habit carried over to the new pack will shorten its life the same way. Remove the battery from the dock once charging is complete and only return it when the vacuum needs a charge. A partially blocked filter also increases motor draw and burns through charge faster, so confirm the filter is clean before drawing any conclusions about capacity.
