Fits Dyson V7, SV11, and V7 Motorhead Pro models; replaces OEM part 968670-02 and 968670-03.
21.6V at 2000mAh delivers 43.2Wh to sustain motor torque on carpet and hard floors without voltage sag under load.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a locking tab on the left side; seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested the BMS against the Dyson charger platform; the cell accepted full current without fault codes on initial charge cycle.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously — Dyson V7 chargers trickle-charge at full, causing capacity fade within weeks if left docked after reaching full charge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dyson V7 / SV11 Series — 21.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (968670-02)

This 21.6V 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces part numbers 968670-02 and 968670-03 in the Dyson V7 cordless vacuum range. It fits the V7, SV11, V7 Motorhead Pro, V7 Total Clean, and related variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge and suction drops off before the job is done.

  • V7 and SV11 platform fit: These models share the same 21.6V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery cell covers the full V7 lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the V7's motor controller under both standard and MAX suction modes. The BMS handled current draw correctly at both settings, with no false overcurrent trips during startup.
  • Dock charging habit on the V7: Do not leave the V7 sitting on its charging dock permanently between uses. The V7 dock does not switch to a true maintenance mode — continuous trickle charge accelerates cell degradation. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.

Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low

The V7 motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter can push draw well above the rated steady-state figure. The BMS reads this as a high-drain event and begins throttling output voltage before the fuel gauge registers low. The result is noticeably weaker suction while the indicator still shows two or three bars. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest suction at full charge.

V7 motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the V7 runs sustained suction against a blockage or a heavily soiled filter, current spikes past the BMS protection threshold and the pack shuts output to protect the cells. A brief pause lets the BMS reset and the motor restarts. Clear the blockage, check the filter, and confirm pack voltage reads at or above 20V on a multimeter before ruling out a cell fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Dyson V7 suction gets weak halfway through vacuuming but the battery light still shows plenty of charge — what's happening?

A restricted filter forces the V7 motor to pull more current than normal, which causes the BMS to sag output voltage early — long before the indicator reflects low charge. The vacuum feels underpowered even though the cells still have capacity. Wash or replace the filter and fully charge the battery before testing again. If suction restores to normal after a clean filter, the battery is not the fault.

The V7 cuts out completely for a few seconds, then starts working again on its own — is the battery failing?

That behaviour is a BMS overcurrent trip, not cell failure. Sustained restricted airflow — from a blocked brush head or clogged filter — spikes the motor's current draw past the pack's protection threshold, and the BMS shuts output briefly to protect the cells. Once current drops, the BMS resets and the motor runs again. Clear any blockage, clean the filter, and confirm the resting pack voltage sits above 20V before assuming the battery needs replacing.

I charged the new replacement battery overnight but the V7 still won't charge — charger light just blinks or stays off.

The V7 charger looks for a specific BMS handshake before it begins charging — if the replacement pack's BMS doesn't respond correctly, the charger refuses to engage. First, verify the battery is firmly seated with the connector fully clicked in. Try a known-working Dyson V7 charger if one is available. If the charger still won't initiate, measure the pack voltage at the terminals — a reading below 18V indicates the cells have discharged past the BMS recovery threshold, and the pack will need a slow pre-charge or a warranty swap.
