Fits Dyson V7, SV11, V7 Motorhead Pro, and V7 Total Clean models; replaces OEM part number 968670-02 and 968670-03.
This 21.6V lithium-ion cell delivers 2500mAh capacity for sustained motor draw across whole-home cleaning cycles.
Connector seats into the handle dock with a quarter-turn locking collar; verify the tab aligns before seating fully.
We bench-tested this pack on a V7 motor load; BMS cycled correctly under sustained suction demand without early cutoff.
Do not leave the vacuum on its charging dock continuously — trickle charging degrades capacity faster than charging only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dyson V7 / SV11 Series — 21.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (968670-02)

This 21.6V 2500mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in Dyson V7 and SV11 series cordless stick vacuums, including V7 Motorhead Pro and V7 Total Clean. It fits the same battery bay and uses the same connector and BMS communication protocol as the factory pack. Capacity is 2500mAh (54Wh), matching the original specification.

  • V7 and SV11 platform fit: All V7-series models share the same 21.6V cell architecture, battery bay geometry, and BMS handshake. A single replacement pack covers the full V7 range because Dyson held the connector and communication spec constant across those variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the V7 Motorhead Pro motor controller. The BMS negotiated correctly on first connect, cell balancing activated after the initial charge cycle, and overcurrent cutoff triggered at expected thresholds under simulated blockage load.
  • Dock charging habit on V7 vacuums: Do not leave the V7 on its wall dock continuously. The V7 charging circuit does not cut off cleanly at 100% under prolonged dock contact — trickle current continues and accelerates cell degradation. Charge to full, then remove from dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The V7 motor controller pulls higher current the moment airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or full bin forces the motor to work harder at the same fan speed. This extra draw causes cell voltage to sag under load even when the pack is at 60–70% state of charge. The vacuum's indicator reads pack voltage at rest, not under load, so the gauge looks fine while suction is already weak. Clear the filter and empty the bin first; if sag continues on a clean machine, the pack itself has degraded and needs replacement.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a motor fault. When sustained suction restriction forces current above the BMS threshold — typically around 20A on the V7 — the pack shuts output to protect the cells, then resets after temperature drops. Repeated trips accelerate cell wear. Check the filter and cyclone assembly for blockage before assuming the battery is at fault. If the machine is clean and trips still occur, measure resting pack voltage; anything below 20V indicates a weak cell group that can no longer handle peak motor-start current.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V7 loses suction halfway through a room but the battery light still shows full — what's happening?

The battery indicator reads resting voltage, not voltage under motor load. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw more current, which sags cell voltage during use even when the pack looks charged at rest. Clean the filter and empty the bin — if suction recovers, the pack is fine. If sag continues on a clean machine, check resting pack voltage; below 20V means the cells can no longer hold output under load.

The V7 motor shuts off for a few seconds then comes back on — is this a battery fault or a vacuum fault?

That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip inside the battery pack. The V7's motor controller spikes current demand when airflow is restricted, and if that current exceeds the BMS limit the pack cuts output briefly to protect the cells. Check the cyclone, filter, and bin for any blockage first — most trips clear once airflow is restored. If the machine is clean and trips still happen, the pack's cells have degraded and can no longer supply peak start current without tripping.

I replaced my V7 battery but it barely lasts compared to what I expected — could the new pack already be degraded?

A partially blocked filter causes the motor to draw significantly more current than rated, which burns through charge faster and makes any pack — new or old — appear weak. Run the vacuum with a freshly cleaned filter and emptied bin and compare. If runtime is still noticeably short, check whether you are leaving the V7 on the dock continuously — prolonged dock contact allows trickle current to flow past full charge, which degrades cells quickly. Charge to full and remove from dock each cycle.
