Fits iRobot Roomba 614, 615, 640, 652 and 27 additional models; replaces OEM part 1800LI.
14.4V, 5200mAh lithium-ion supplies full motor power for autonomous floor cleaning cycles.
Connector slides straight into the charging dock slot with a positive-lock tab that seats flush.
Bench tested on a 614 unit — BMS accepted the charge handshake on dock insertion without fault codes.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock after it reaches full charge; continuous trickle charging degrades capacity faster than removing it when full and charging only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRobot Roomba 614 / 640 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1800LI)

This is a 14.4V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 5200mAh (74.88Wh) for the iRobot Roomba 614 and related 600-series robotic vacuums. It replaces OEM parts 1800LI, 2130LI, 4374392, 4376392, 4462425, and 4502233. Fit models include the Roomba 614, 615, 640, and 652, among others sharing the same battery bay and connector format.

  • 600-series platform compatibility: The Roomba 614, 615, 640, and 652 all share the same 14.4V battery bay, locking tab geometry, and BMS handshake protocol. The same cell pack satisfies the charger's voltage recognition on every unit in this group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge cycles on a 614 chassis and monitored BMS communication with the base station. The protection circuit responded correctly to both docking charge and direct connector charging without triggering false-low warnings.
  • Dock charging habit on the 600 series: The Roomba 614 is built to self-dock, which encourages leaving it on the base continuously. Li-ion cells kept at 100% under trickle charge degrade faster than cells cycled normally. Charge to full, run the unit, then re-dock only when depleted.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the 614

The Roomba 614's motor draws significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the brush roll encounters thick carpet. A worn cell cannot sustain voltage under that elevated draw, so suction weakens even though the charge indicator still reads mid-range. The battery management system reads state of charge at rest, not under load — which is why the indicator lags behind actual performance. If suction recovers after a full charge but drops again quickly, the cell is losing voltage under load rather than losing total capacity.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then restarting on its own

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a software fault. When the brush roll or intake is restricted, the motor pulls more amps than the protection circuit allows — the BMS cuts output to protect the cell, and the unit pauses. After a few seconds, the BMS resets and the motor restarts. Check the filter and brush roll for blockages before assuming the battery is faulty. If the cutout stops after clearing the restriction, the battery is functioning correctly — the protection circuit did exactly what it should.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Roomba 614 shows a full charge but loses suction halfway through a room — is that the battery?

Yes, and the cause is voltage sag under load, not a low state of charge. A degraded cell reads fine at rest but can't hold voltage when the motor ramps up — especially over carpet or with a partially blocked filter. Clean the filter first; if suction still collapses early with a clean filter, the cell can no longer sustain the draw and needs replacing. A fresh 5200mAh cell at 14.4V will maintain consistent motor voltage through a full clean cycle.

My Roomba keeps stopping mid-clean, pausing a few seconds, then starting again — what's causing that?

That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip resetting itself. The brush roll or suction path is likely restricted, forcing the motor to pull more current than the protection circuit permits — it cuts out, resets, and restarts. Remove the brush roll, clear any hair or debris, and clean the filter before the next run. If the cycling stops after clearing the blockage, the battery protection circuit is working correctly.

My replacement battery holds less charge than expected after only a few weeks — did I get a bad cell?

Probably not — continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade on the 600 series. The Roomba self-docks after every clean, which keeps the Li-ion cell at 100% under a trickle charge for hours or days at a time. That sustained high state of charge accelerates cell degradation faster than normal cycling. Remove the unit from the dock once charging completes and only re-dock when the battery is genuinely low.
