Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IRON LUX E73 417 12 / AT 26m — 6.4V LiFePO4 Replacement Battery (A-922/HT)

This is a 6.4V 600mAh LiFePO4 cell built to the A-922/HT specification. It fits the IRON LUX E73 417 12 and AT 26m emergency lighting units — the type mounted above fire exits and escape routes in commercial and industrial buildings. Capacity is 600mAh (3.84Wh), matching the original cell exactly.

  • E73 417 12 and AT 26m platform: Both fittings run a 6.4V LiFePO4 chemistry rail with the same physical footprint and connector orientation. The A-922/HT cell meets the voltage and form factor the charge controller in each fitting expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through mains-present charging and a simulated mains-fail discharge event. The BMS held voltage within tolerance across the full discharge arc and the charge controller accepted the cell without a fault flag.
  • First test cycle after installation: Within 24 hours of fitting, hold the test button for the full rated test duration. This lets the charge controller register the new cell and confirms load acceptance before your next scheduled compliance inspection.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A freshly installed LiFePO4 cell coming out of storage may not be at full charge capacity on day one. The charge controller in the E73 417 12 applies a float charge — not a fast charge — so the cell can take up to 24 hours to reach rated capacity. Running a duration test before that window closes will produce a short result that does not reflect the cell's actual capacity. Allow a full 24-hour charge period after installation, then run the test. If the fitting still fails after 24 hours on mains power, check float charge voltage at the cell terminals — it should read between 7.2V and 7.3V under no load.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

Some IRON LUX fittings latch a fault LED in hardware and will not clear it automatically after a battery swap. Even when the new cell is correctly seated and charging, the red indicator stays on until the fault flag is manually reset. On the E73 417 12, hold the test button for three seconds with mains power present — this triggers a reset cycle on the charge controller. If the indicator does not switch to green within two minutes of the reset, check the cell connector seating and confirm terminal voltage is above 6.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The emergency light dims and cuts out partway through the test — the new battery was just fitted yesterday. What's happening?

A LiFePO4 cell shipped from storage arrives partially charged, and the E73 417 12 charge controller uses a slow float charge rather than a recovery charge. If you run the test within a few hours of installation, the cell hasn't reached rated capacity yet — so it dims and drops out early. Leave the fitting on mains power for a full 24 hours after installation, then repeat the test. If it still cuts out early, measure cell voltage at the terminals: a fully charged A-922/HT cell should read 7.2V to 7.3V with no load applied.

The fitting shows a fault LED even though the new battery is seated correctly and the connector is secure. How do I clear it?

The E73 417 12 latches fault states in the charge controller and does not auto-clear them after a battery swap. With mains power on and the new cell installed, hold the test button for three seconds — this forces the controller through a reset cycle. The indicator should move to green within two minutes. If it stays red after the reset, disconnect mains power for 30 seconds, reconnect, and allow a further two minutes for the controller to re-initialise before testing again.

The old battery looked swollen when we removed it. What causes that in a fitting like this?

Swelling in a LiFePO4 cell fitted to an emergency light usually points to prolonged overcharge from a failing charge controller rather than cell age alone. Emergency light fittings apply a continuous trickle charge over years, and if the controller's voltage regulation drifts high — even slightly — heat builds inside the cell casing and causes gassing. Before fitting the A-922/HT replacement, check the float charge voltage at the battery terminals with a multimeter: it should sit between 7.2V and 7.3V. A reading above 7.4V means the charge controller needs attention before the new cell is installed.
