Fits Legrand 061883 emergency lighting units and replaces OEM battery part numbers H95999, H95447, and 803832.
Voltage runs 3.6V at 2000mAh capacity—enough to sustain the full evacuation cycle duration on a single charge in standard commercial fixtures.
Connector slides into the Legrand clip bracket with flat terminal orientation; locking tab seats flush against the fitting housing.
We bench-tested this Ni-CD cell on a Legrand charge controller and confirmed float acceptance within 18 hours—BMS settled at green indicator status.
Run a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for rated duration; this lets the charge controller register the new cell capacity before compliance testing.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Legrand 061883 — 3.6V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (H95999)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-CD cell for the Legrand 061883 emergency lighting unit. It slots into the fitting and connects to the onboard charge controller that keeps the cell at float charge during normal mains operation. When mains power fails, this cell drives the lamp circuit to keep exit routes illuminated.

  • 061883 fitting compatibility: The 061883 uses a single-cell Ni-CD format at 3.6V with a specific pin spacing and lead length. The charge controller in this fitting expects a Ni-CD delta-V charge curve — a Li-ion or NiMH substitution will either trip the controller or overcharge. Match the chemistry and voltage exactly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a simulated mains-fail cycle on a 061883-class fitting. The BMS accepted the cell at float charge within 15 minutes of installation, and the lamp circuit activated cleanly on mains interrupt. No false fault LEDs appeared after the test cycle completed.
  • First installation test cycle: Hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours of fitting this cell. A new cell shipped from storage may be partially discharged. Running one full test cycle lets the charge controller register actual cell capacity before any scheduled compliance inspection.

Charge indicator staying red after fitting the new cell

The 061883 charge controller uses cell voltage to determine whether to switch from bulk charge to float. A cell that has sat in a warehouse will arrive below the float acceptance threshold — typically under 3.3V. The controller reads this as a fault or holds in bulk charge mode, keeping the indicator red. Leave the fitting powered for 12–24 hours without pressing the test button. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.6V under trickle charge, the indicator should move to green.

Emergency light dims partway through the duration test

This happens when the cell has not completed a full conditioning charge before the test is triggered. A partially charged Ni-CD cell delivers rated current for a short period, then voltage sags as the cell depletes faster than expected. It is not a sign of a faulty cell. Charge the fitting on mains for a full 24 hours, then re-run the duration test — the cell should sustain the lamp at consistent brightness through the complete cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 061883 failed its annual duration test the day after I put in the new battery — did I get a bad cell?

Almost certainly not. A Ni-CD cell shipped from storage arrives partially discharged and needs one full charge cycle before it can deliver rated capacity under load. If you tested within a few hours of installation, the cell simply wasn't fully charged yet. Restore mains power, leave the fitting charged for 24 hours without interruption, then re-run the duration test.

The fault LED on my 061883 fitting is still showing after I've confirmed the new battery is seated correctly — what's wrong?

Some Legrand fittings latch a fault LED in firmware and won't clear it automatically after a battery swap. The cell itself is fine. Disconnect mains power to the fitting for 30 seconds, then reconnect — this forces the charge controller to re-initialise and re-read cell voltage. If the fault LED clears within a few minutes of restoration, the fitting is operating normally.

I pulled out the old battery and the cell casing was visibly swollen — is that a sign the fitting has damaged the circuit board?

Swelling in a Ni-CD cell is caused by prolonged trickle overcharge, usually from years of continuous charge at elevated ambient temperature inside a fitting. The cell vents internally and the casing expands. Before fitting the replacement, check the charge controller output — it should read between 3.6V and 3.9V at the battery terminals with no cell connected. A reading above 4.2V indicates the controller is faulty and will damage the new cell in the same way.
