Fits BlueMedia BM6380 GPS navigator; replaces OEM part numbers BALI-BM63-DMED and SDI053707917.
3.7V and 1400mAh capacity delivers full runtime on this portable navigation unit during active route tracking.
Connector type is proprietary BlueMedia; unit slides into battery slot with contact pins forward and locking tab seated.
We tested this cell on a BM6380 unit; BMS accepted charge cycle without fault codes and held voltage stable under navigation load.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5-10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlueMedia BM6380 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BALI-BM63-DMED)

This is a 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion cell for the BlueMedia BM6380 portable GPS navigator. It fits the BM6380, BM-6380, and BM-6280 models. Dimensions are 50.93 × 36.91 × 5.57mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if you are unsure.

  • BM6380 / BM-6280 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pin-out, and 3.7V supply rail. The BMS handshake on both units reads the same cell chemistry, so one part number covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the BM6380 platform. The onboard BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held termination voltage at 4.2V, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors before driving. A full power interruption clears the assisted GPS cache, so the receiver runs a cold start — expect 5 to 10 minutes for first fix rather than the sub-minute warm start you had before.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the BM6380

When cell voltage drops toward 3.5V, the BM6380 firmware reduces power to the GPS receiver module to extend operation. Lower receiver power means weaker signal processing, which widens position error. You may notice the position dot drifting or snapping between points on the map. Keeping the battery charged above 3.7V maintains full receiver sensitivity and position accuracy.

BM6380 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches empty

The low-battery indicator on the BM6380 is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell — or an aged one with a shifted curve — can hit the hardware cut-off voltage before the on-screen indicator reaches one bar. The device does not crash; the BMS simply trips the cut-off at approximately 3.0V. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles so the firmware can re-map the indicator to the new cell's curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BlueMedia BM6380 lost all my saved routes after I replaced the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The BM6380 stores some navigation data and recent destinations in RAM that requires continuous power to retain. Removing the battery fully drains that memory, so saved routes and recent POIs are cleared. Map data stored on the SD card or internal flash is unaffected — only the RAM-backed session data is lost. Re-enter your saved locations after the first boot and they will persist through normal use.

The BM6380 is taking 8 minutes to find a satellite signal after my battery swap — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Replacing the battery cuts power to the GPS receiver, which clears the ephemeris cache the unit uses for fast fixes. Without that cache, the receiver runs a cold start and must download fresh satellite position data from scratch, which takes 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles will return to warm-start times of under a minute. Stand outside in an open area for the first fix rather than trying it in a car park or under tree cover.

My BM6380 drains its new battery much faster when I am actively navigating than when it is sitting idle — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, the backlit display, and the route calculation processor simultaneously. Standby leaves the display off and the receiver in a low-power hold state. The display alone accounts for a significant share of draw on a 3.7V / 1400mAh cell. Reduce screen brightness to its lowest usable level during navigation — that single change has the largest impact on extending operating time between charges.
