Fits Kärcher CVH 2 handheld vacuum; replaces OEM part 9.774-316.0.
7.4V 2000mAh Li-ion pack delivers full motor torque on this upholstery and stair unit.
Slides into the vertical grip slot with a quarter-turn lock; connector faces downward into dock.
We bench-tested this cell in the CVH 2 charging dock—BMS accepted handshake immediately, no fault lights.
Do not leave this battery on the dock permanently between uses; continuous trickle charge degrades capacity faster than removing after full charge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Karcher CVH 2 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (9.774-316.0)

This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery for the Karcher CVH 2 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It replaces OEM part number 9.774-316.0 and restores power to the CVH 2 when the original cell has degraded or failed. Fits the CVH 2 body directly — same connector, same BMS voltage profile.

  • CVH 2 platform fit: The CVH 2 runs a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake that controls both charge cutoff and motor start. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector, so the vacuum's charge indicator and low-battery cutoff behave as expected.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge cycles and checked BMS cutoff under simulated motor load. The protection circuit triggered correctly at low-voltage threshold and reset cleanly on reconnection to the charger.
  • Dock charging habit on the CVH 2: The CVH 2 is often left on its charging dock between uses. Li-ion cells in this voltage range degrade faster under continuous trickle charge than under charge-then-remove cycles. Charge to full and unplug — do not leave the vacuum docked permanently.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The CVH 2 motor draws more current when the filter is partially blocked, because it works harder to pull airflow through restricted mesh. That extra draw causes the cell voltage to sag under load before the indicator circuit sees a true low-battery condition. The result is weak suction while the indicator still shows charge remaining. Clean the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the cause. If suction stays weak with a clean filter and a charged cell, the cell's internal resistance has risen and the pack needs replacement.

Motor cuts out mid-use then restarts after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a motor fault. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or pressed hard against upholstery — current draw spikes past the protection circuit's threshold. The BMS shuts the output to protect the cell, then resets once current drops. Clear the blockage and check the filter before assuming the battery is at fault. If the cutout happens on a clean machine with an aged original pack, the cell's capacity has dropped enough that even normal draw hits the trip threshold — that is when a replacement cell fixes it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CVH 2 has noticeably weaker suction after a full charge — filter is clean. Is this the battery?

Yes, this points to cell degradation. As a Li-ion pack ages, its internal resistance rises, which causes voltage to sag under the motor's load even when the cell reads fully charged. The vacuum's motor receives less usable voltage, so airflow drops. Fit a replacement cell and check whether full suction returns on the first charge cycle.

The CVH 2 motor cuts out after about 10 seconds on carpet, then comes back on its own — what causes that?

That is the BMS overcurrent trip firing. Dense carpet or pressing the nozzle flat against a surface restricts airflow, which forces the motor to pull more current than the protection circuit allows. The BMS cuts output, waits for current to fall, then resets — hence the brief pause and restart. Lift the nozzle slightly to restore airflow, and the cutout stops; if it still trips on a clear surface, the existing cell's capacity has dropped and the higher relative draw is enough to trigger the threshold.

I leave my CVH 2 on the charging dock all the time — could that have killed the battery?

It is one of the most common causes of capacity fade in this device class. Li-ion cells at 7.4V held on continuous trickle charge deteriorate faster than cells charged only when depleted. The charger keeps the pack at float voltage indefinitely, which stresses the cells over weeks. With the replacement pack, charge fully, then remove the vacuum from the dock and only return it when the battery is low.
