Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung VP-D351i / VP-DC161Wi Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-LSM320)
This is a 7.4V, 2400mAh Li-ion replacement for the Samsung SB-LSM320 battery pack. It fits the VP-D351i, VP-DC161Wi, VM-DC560K, and SC-D353 MiniDV camcorders, among 79 other compatible Samsung models. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec — no modification needed to fit the battery compartment.
- VP-D and SC-D series compatibility: These Samsung MiniDV camcorders share the same 7.4V battery rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol across the range. A single SB-LSM320 form factor covers the full VP-D, VP-DC, VM-DC, and SC-D lineups because Samsung standardised the pack interface across that generation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on VP-D series hardware. The BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, held the 7.4V nominal rail under load, and triggered the low-voltage cutoff at the correct threshold.
- First charge on MiniDV camcorders: Perform the first full charge cycle inside the camcorder body or the original Samsung charger — not a generic third-party charger. Some Samsung BMS implementations require an in-body charge cycle before the battery-remaining indicator maps correctly to the new cell's discharge curve.
Why the VP-D351i shows a dead battery icon on a freshly charged replacement cell
Samsung's MiniDV camcorders use a voltage-threshold lookup to estimate charge level. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve at the top end compared to a worn OEM pack, so the camera can misread a full 8.4V charge as a depleted state. The fix is one full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body — this recalibrates where the BMS places the 0% and 100% markers. After that single cycle, the indicator tracks accurately through normal use.
Battery percentage jumping or dropping suddenly mid-recording
MiniDV camcorders draw current in bursts — the tape transport motor, LCD backlight, and image sensor all spike simultaneously when recording starts. If the replacement cell's internal resistance is slightly higher than the aged OEM pack, the voltage sags under that burst load and the BMS briefly reads a lower state of charge. The display then snaps back once the draw stabilises. Completing two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body brings internal resistance down and smooths out the voltage response. If the jumping persists beyond three cycles, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flat — even a half-millimetre gap increases resistance at the connector.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VP-D351i won't recognise the new battery at all — just shows an error and powers off. What's wrong?
This is a BMS authentication check. The Samsung VP-D series verifies a new pack by running a brief charge handshake on first install — if the cell voltage is below a recognition threshold when inserted cold, the camera rejects it before that check completes. Insert the battery and charge it directly in the camcorder body for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. One full in-body charge cycle is usually enough for the camera to accept and register the pack correctly.
Shot count is way lower than expected — the battery drains much faster than the original did when it was new. Is the cell faulty?
Not necessarily. The VP-D351i's tape transport, LCD panel, and autofocus motor all draw current simultaneously during recording — combined load consistently exceeds the baseline figure used for rated capacity estimates. Cold ambient temperatures also suppress usable capacity on Li-ion cells without affecting the cell itself. Check whether you're using the LCD viewfinder continuously rather than the eyepiece, and whether OIS or autofocus is active throughout the recording — switching to the eyepiece and using manual focus on static shots measurably reduces draw. If drain still seems excessive, discharge the pack fully once and recharge to 8.4V to confirm you're getting the full 2400mAh.
The battery percentage on the VP-D351i was sitting at 60%, then dropped straight to 0% and the camera cut out — no warning.
This is a voltage sag cutoff. Under the combined load of tape transport and recording, the cell voltage briefly drops below the BMS low-voltage protection threshold, triggering an immediate shutdown even though the indicated percentage was mid-range. It happens most often on a new cell that hasn't been cycled yet, because the discharge curve mapping hasn't been calibrated to the camera's lookup table. Run two full charge-discharge cycles inside the camcorder body to let the BMS re-map the curve, and confirm the pack reaches a full 8.4V at the end of each charge cycle before use.
