Fits Lawmate PV-900, PV-900 EVO HD, and PV-900FM recorders; replaces OEM part BA-PV900.
3.7V 1100mAh lithium-ion cell delivers sustained power for continuous audio recording without mid-session dropout.
Connector seats vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We bench-tested this cell in a PV-900 unit — BMS accepted the charge cycle, no fault codes.
On first use, charge fully before recording sessions; unexpected power loss during recording corrupts the audio file on flash storage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lawmate PV-900 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BA-PV900)

This is a 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion battery for the Lawmate PV-900 covert recorder. It fits the PV-900, PV-900 EVO HD, and PV-900FM. OEM part number BA-PV900 matches the original cell specification and connector.

  • PV-900, PV-900 EVO HD, and PV-900FM compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail. The BA-PV900 part number covers the full production run of this recorder series without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the PV-900 charge circuit and confirmed the protection board communicates correctly with the recorder's BMS. The cell reached full charge without triggering overcurrent or overvoltage faults.
  • Pre-session charge requirement: Charge the battery fully before any recording session. The PV-900 writes continuously to flash storage, and a mid-session power cut truncates the active file — the partial recording will not play back correctly.

PV-900 cutting out and corrupting the active recording file

The PV-900 holds the current recording in a RAM buffer before flushing it to flash. When the cell voltage drops below the recorder's minimum operating threshold mid-session, the device shuts down before that flush completes. The result is a truncated or unreadable file for that session. Previously saved recordings on the flash storage are not affected — only the in-progress file is at risk. A degraded original battery that reads partially charged is the most common trigger for this failure.

PV-900 won't power on after a new battery is installed

A replacement cell shipped in storage mode can sit below 3.2V — too low for the PV-900 boot sequence to start. The recorder will appear completely dead even with a fresh battery installed. Connect the unit to its charger for at least 15 minutes before attempting to power on. Once the cell climbs above approximately 3.4V, the boot sequence will run normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PV-900 powers on but stops recording partway through a session — is that the battery?

Yes, this is the most common symptom of a degraded cell. When voltage sags below the recorder's minimum operating threshold mid-session, the device cuts out before flushing the RAM buffer to flash storage. That session's file is truncated and usually unplayable. Charge the replacement battery fully before your next session and confirm the recorder holds charge without dropping off early.

Will my saved recordings still be there after I swap the battery?

Yes. The PV-900 stores recordings on flash memory, which retains data without power. Removing the battery only clears any RAM buffer — meaning only a file actively being recorded at the moment of power removal is at risk. All previously completed and saved recordings remain intact after a battery swap.

The PV-900FM drains much faster than the PV-900 or EVO HD — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong. The FM variant transmits a live wireless signal while recording, which is a sustained high-draw function on top of the recorder's base load. That combined draw depletes the 1100mAh cell noticeably faster than record-only operation on the other two models. This is normal behaviour — plan shorter sessions or charge between uses when running the FM transmission active.
