Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo A880 / A916 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL219)
The BL219 is a 3.7V, 1900mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Lenovo A880, A889, A388t, and A916. It replaces an original battery that no longer holds charge or shuts down unexpectedly under load. Capacity is rated at 7.03Wh, matching the original cell specification.
- A880 / A916 platform compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — the same cell services the fuel gauge IC and charge controller across the entire series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on an A880 unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking capacity without manual intervention.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean discharge curve to calibrate against the new cell before high-current charging is introduced.
Why the A880 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The A880 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its capacity model from historical charge and discharge data stored against the old cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell chemistry, so the percentage reading drifts. The IC needs at least one full discharge from 100% to auto-shutoff, followed by a full charge, before it recalculates a new baseline. Until that cycle completes, readings above 80% and below 25% are the least accurate. Let the phone reach auto-shutoff naturally on that first cycle — do not top up mid-discharge.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops below what the modem or display backlight needs under peak load, even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. A fresh Li-ion cell with an uncalibrated gauge cannot accurately map remaining voltage to percentage, so the phone cuts out before the displayed number reaches zero. The fix is the same full recalibration cycle — one uninterrupted discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge to 100%. After that cycle, the gauge maps the new cell's voltage curve correctly and the early shutoffs stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The A880 shows 25% battery then shuts off instantly — is the new BL219 faulty?
It is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC is still using the old cell's discharge curve, so it cannot accurately predict the voltage cliff on the new cell. Under modem or screen load, voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge expects, triggering an emergency cutoff. Run one full uninterrupted discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge to 100%, and the shutoffs will stop.
Fast charging stopped working on the A880 after fitting the BL219 — the phone only trickle charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on some A-series Lenovo devices defaults to a lower current rate while it profiles the new cell's impedance. This is normal and not a fault with the BL219. Charge the phone fully at standard rate once, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the IC will renegotiate at full current. If it still trickle charges after two full cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated and all five pins are making contact.
The phone won't power on at all after the BL219 sat in storage for a few months before I installed it.
If the cell discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage to the cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will slowly bring the cell voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. If there is no response after 45 minutes on a wall charger, the cell has dropped too low for automatic recovery.
