Fits Lenovo MA308 and MA309 smartphones; replaces OEM battery part number BL199.
3.7V, 1000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers standard talk and standby time for this device class.
Connector type is proprietary Lenovo; orientation marked on pack; seats flush against battery door latch.
We bench-tested this cell in MA308 hardware; BMS accepted charge current without fault codes; discharge curve stable.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging runs.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo MA308 / MA309 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL199)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell replacing part number BL199 in the Lenovo MA308 and MA309 smartphones. Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol, so one cell covers both. Dimensions are 63.52 × 41.91 × 3.93mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if you are unsure of your exact variant.

  • MA308 and MA309 compatibility: These two models use the same voltage rail, identical physical connector, and the same BMS handshake sequence. A single BL199 cell works in both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled BL199 cells through full charge and discharge on a controlled bench rig. The BMS accepted charge current correctly, hit cutoff at the expected upper voltage, and logged no fault events during the test sequence.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before any high-current protocol is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the MA308 after a cell swap

The MA308 fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the original cell after a swap. When the new cell's actual resting voltage drops below what the old curve predicts at 20–30%, the phone interprets this as a critical low-battery event and forces shutdown — even though charge remains in the cell. This is not a faulty battery. One full discharge-charge cycle on standard current overwrites the stored curve and realigns the percentage readout to the new cell's actual behaviour.

Phone feels warm near the battery during the first two charges

A new high-impedance cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a settled cell. The charge IC compensates by pushing current harder in the early CC phase, which generates more heat than usual. This typically normalises within two to three full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the case stays warm past the third cycle, check that nothing is blocking airflow around the back panel and confirm charge current is not set above the standard rate for this device.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MA308 shows 25% battery and then just switches off — is the new BL199 cell defective?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The phone's coulomb counter is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so when the new cell's voltage drops below the threshold the IC expects at 25%, the phone treats it as empty and shuts down. Run one full discharge — let it cut off on its own — then charge to 100% at the standard rate without fast charging enabled. After that single cycle the fuel gauge re-maps to the new cell and the premature shutdowns stop.

The OS is reporting battery percentage jumping around erratically after I fitted the BL199 — what is causing that?

Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap come from the fuel gauge IC interpolating against a stored curve that no longer matches the new cell's actual charge-voltage relationship. The IC has not yet seen a full discharge profile from the replacement cell, so it guesses — and guesses badly at mid-range states of charge. Charge the phone fully to 100%, then let it discharge in normal use until the phone cuts off by itself, then charge back to 100% without interruption. One complete uninterrupted cycle is enough for the IC to lock onto the correct curve.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my MA309 — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed its initialisation handshake with the phone's charge IC. Some proprietary charge protocols require a completed BMS negotiation before they will authorise elevated current. Charge the phone once at standard slow-charge current — use a basic 5V/1A adapter, not a fast charger — and let it reach 100%. Reconnect your fast charger after that first full cycle; the BMS handshake will complete normally and fast charging should resume at its rated current.
