Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E43A / K43 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (L08M6D22)

This 11.1V Li-ion battery carries a 4400mAh (48.84Wh) capacity and fits the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E43A, E43G, E43L, and K43 series notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers L08M6D22, L08M6D23, L08M6D24, and 121000675. The cell slots into the standard ThinkPad Edge bay with no modification.

  • ThinkPad Edge E43 and K43 platform fit: These models share the same 11.1V three-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one cell covers the entire lineup without electrical modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the E43 platform. The BMS handshook correctly with the BIOS on first boot, and charge acceptance held stable across the full voltage range from cutoff to 12.6V.
  • Post-install discharge cycle on ThinkPad Edge: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell

The ThinkPad BIOS stores learned capacity data from the previous cell in EEPROM. When a new cell goes in, that stored data no longer matches the actual cell chemistry, and the BIOS flags a health warning. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running a single full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to rewrite its learned values. After one or two complete cycles, the health status clears.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BIOS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load before the fuel gauge reaches zero. The fuel gauge IC is reading state-of-charge from a calibration table that no longer matches the new cell. The cell hits a voltage cliff under load — typically below 10.8V — while the gauge still shows capacity remaining. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and recharge cycles to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's actual discharge curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ThinkPad Edge shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" right after install — what's wrong?

The BIOS has not yet recognised the new cell's EEPROM data and is holding the charge circuit open as a precaution. Shut the laptop down completely, remove the AC adapter for 30 seconds, reconnect, and boot. If the charge circuit still does not open, enter the BIOS at startup and check the Power settings — some ThinkPad Edge firmware versions have a charge threshold toggle that defaults to a conserve mode. Disable it, save, and reboot.

The Lenovo power manager is showing the wrong Wh rating — it says 47Wh but the label on the battery says 48.84Wh — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure displayed in Lenovo Power Manager is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery controller, which stores the manufacturer's rated value. The actual measured capacity at full charge can differ slightly from the EEPROM figure depending on cell chemistry tolerances. The 48.84Wh figure on the product label is the correct rated capacity for this cell. Ignore the software readout until two full calibration cycles have completed.

The charge stops at 80% and never goes higher — the battery has been in for a week now.

This is a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a battery fault. The ThinkPad Edge BIOS includes a battery conservation mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during extended AC use. Open Lenovo Vantage or the older Power Manager utility, navigate to the battery charge threshold settings, and set the stop-charge value to 100%. The charge will resume past 80% on the next cycle.
