Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad T490s / T495s Series — 11.52V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (02DL013)

This 11.52V, 4850mAh (55.87Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Lenovo ThinkPad T490s and T495s ultrabook series. It fits models including the T490s (20NX0015CD), T490s-20NYS02A00, and T495s-20QKS01E00. Cross-references cover OEM part numbers 02DL013, 02DL014, L18C3PD2, L18L3PD1, L18M3PD1, and SB10K97651, among others.

  • T490s and T495s shared battery platform: Both the T490s and T495s use the same 11.52V three-cell Li-Polymer pack with an identical connector pinout and BMS communication protocol. Lenovo sourced this cell under multiple part numbers across production runs — 02DL013 through 02DL015, L18M3PD1, L18M3PD2, and the SB10K series — all electrically equivalent to this replacement.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a T490s under continuous CPU and display load. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, charge acceptance reached full capacity, and the fuel gauge IC registered correct Wh data within two cycles.
  • Post-install discharge cycle on ThinkPad: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears in Lenovo Vantage after a cell swap.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacement

The ThinkPad BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM and compares it against the new cell's reported values. When those numbers don't match, Lenovo Vantage flags the battery as degraded or unknown — even on a fresh cell. This is a calibration state, not a fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to rewrite the learn cycle data against the new cell and clears the warning.

Laptop shutting down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet mapped the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The T490s shuts down when pack voltage drops below the safety floor — but the gauge is misreading that floor as 20–30% instead of 0%. The fix is two or three full discharge-charge cycles so the IC recalibrates its curve. After calibration, the gauge tracks accurately and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lenovo Vantage shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% right after install — is the cell dead?

No — the fuel gauge IC on the T490s is reading EEPROM data from the old cell and hasn't mapped the new one yet. Power the laptop on, let it run on battery until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one or two full cycles the gauge IC resets its curve and Vantage reports correct health and percentage.

The system info screen shows the wrong Wh rating after fitting this battery — why doesn't it match the spec?

The Wh figure displayed in Windows or the BIOS is pulled from the cell's EEPROM at the time of manufacture, not measured live. Different OEM part numbers in the 02DL013–02DL015 and L18M3PD series carry slightly different EEPROM-rated values even though the chemistry and physical capacity are equivalent. The displayed Wh will update to reflect actual cell data after the BIOS completes a full battery learn cycle — discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge to 100%.

Charge stops at 80% and won't go higher — is something wrong with the replacement cell?

This is a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a battery fault. Lenovo's firmware includes a charge limit setting in Vantage and in the BIOS under "Battery Charge Threshold." If it was enabled on the previous cell, the setting carries over to the new one. Open Lenovo Vantage, go to Power → Battery Settings, and confirm the upper charge limit is set to 100%.
