Fits Lenovo ZUK Z5 and replaces OEM battery part number BL288.
Delivers 3.85V and 3050mAh — sufficient capacity to restore full charge cycles on the Z5 platform.
Connector slides into the original battery slot with no modification; locking tab engages without forcing.
We cycled this cell through five full discharge-charge runs on the Z5 motherboard; fuel gauge IC tracked capacity linearly from 100% to cutoff.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without fast charging to let the phone's coulomb counter recalibrate to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo Zuk Z5 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL288)

This is a 3050mAh (11.74Wh) Li-Polymer cell at 3.85V, built to replace the OEM BL288 in the Zuk Z5 smartphone. It fits the L78011 and L78012 variants directly. If your Z5 shuts down unexpectedly, won't hold charge, or has swollen in the chassis, this cell replaces the original without hardware modification.

  • Zuk Z5, L78011, L78012 compatibility: All three share the same voltage rail, BL288 connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell spec covers the full variant range without adapter or firmware workaround.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Z5 unit, confirmed BMS communication at first boot, and verified charge IC acceptance without fault flags or thermal shutdown.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter to the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated reference.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Zuk Z5 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve from the degraded original cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the old curve mapped to 20–30%, the IC signals empty and the OS cuts power — even though actual cell capacity remains. The fix is a full discharge to automatic shutdown, then a continuous charge to 100% without interruption. After one complete cycle, the coulomb counter resets against the new cell's real curve and percentage reporting stabilises.

USB fast charge not activating on first cycle after replacement

On the first connection after a BL288 swap, the charge IC may not negotiate the fast-charge protocol if the new BMS hasn't completed its initial handshake cycle. The phone charges slowly or shows standard 5W input despite being on a fast-charge adapter. Disconnect the cable, power cycle the phone fully, then reconnect to the charger. Once the BMS completes its initialisation sequence, fast-charge negotiation resumes normally — confirm by checking the charging indicator icon updates to the fast-charge symbol.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Zuk Z5 powers off suddenly at around 25% after fitting the new BL288 — is the battery faulty?

It's not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC on the Z5 is calibrated to your old, degraded cell's discharge curve, so it reads the new cell's voltage as empty before it actually is. Run one uninterrupted full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without removing the cable. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell and the shutdowns stop.

The Zuk Z5 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months before installation — is it dead?

A cell stored at low state of charge can drop below the BMS lockout threshold, typically under 2.5V per cell, which causes the protection circuit to disconnect output entirely. Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the lockout threshold before the BMS re-enables output. Once voltage recovers to around 3.0V, the phone will boot normally.

The Zuk Z5 feels noticeably warm near the battery during charging after the swap — is that normal?

A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance on its first few cycles compared to a conditioned cell, which causes the charge IC to dissipate more heat during current delivery. This is normal for the first two to three charge cycles and reduces as the cell conditions. If warmth continues beyond cycle three or the phone triggers a temperature warning, check that the replacement sits flush in the chassis with no edge pressure on the cell — mechanical stress raises impedance further.
