Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MeiZu 16S / 16S Pro — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BA971)
This is a 3500mAh (13.48Wh) Li-Polymer cell built to the BA971 specification. It fits the MeiZu 16S, 16S Pro, M973Q, and M1973 smartphones. Voltage is 3.85V nominal — matching the original cell's charge and discharge parameters.
- 16S and 16S Pro shared platform: Both phones run the same Snapdragon 855 power rail and use an identical connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is shared across the M973Q and M1973 variants, so one BA971 cell covers all four models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the MeiZu charge IC and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake on the first connection. Charge termination tripped correctly at 4.40V. Protection cutoff activated as expected under a simulated dead-short.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build a fresh discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff — not a faulty cell. When the Snapdragon 855 fires the modem at full power or the screen peaks, the new cell briefly dips below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the coulomb counter still reads 25%. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, worn cell's internal resistance curve. One full discharge to shutdown, then a full charge to 100% without interruption, gives the IC enough data to remap the new cell's voltage-capacity curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at partial charge typically stop.
MeiZu fast charging not accepted on the first cycle after replacement
The MeiZu charge IC runs a brief negotiation with the BMS before enabling its proprietary fast charge protocol. On a fresh cell, the BMS may report a high internal resistance figure during this handshake, and the charge IC defaults to standard 5W input as a precaution. This is expected behaviour on cycle one. Completing a full standard-rate charge cycle first resets the IC's learned resistance baseline, and fast charging typically re-enables on the next plug-in without any further steps.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MeiZu 16S won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Likely not dead — just locked out by the BMS. If the cell discharged below 2.5V during storage, the protection circuit trips into lockout mode and the phone shows nothing on screen. Connect the phone to a wall charger rated at least 5V/1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons; the BMS needs trickle current to recover before it will accept a normal charge. If the charge indicator appears, the cell is recovering — let it reach 15% before booting the phone.
The battery percentage on my 16S jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, then skips to 45%, then back up to 55% within minutes.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. The coulomb counter on the Snapdragon 855 platform was tuned to the old cell's specific voltage-capacity profile, and a new cell has a different curve until it is trained. Run one uninterrupted discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% in a single session without unplugging early. After that cycle the percentage readings stabilise because the IC has a full dataset to interpolate from.
The 16S gets noticeably warm near the battery area during the first few charges — is the new cell defective?
Not defective. A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been broken in, and the charge IC on the 16S runs at the same current rate regardless. Higher impedance means more energy is converted to heat at the cell surface during that initial charge. The warmth drops off after three to five full charge cycles as impedance settles. If the phone feels hot to the point of discomfort after five cycles, check that the charge termination voltage is hitting 4.40V and not running over — a sustained overcharge condition is a separate issue requiring a charge IC inspection.
