Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MeiZu Meilan 16X / M1872 / M872H / M872Q — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BA872)
The BA872 is a 3.85V, 2900mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces the original battery in the MeiZu Meilan 16X (also sold as M1872, M872H, and M872Q). It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector pinout for the fuel gauge IC and charge circuit. Capacity is 2900mAh (11.17Wh) — identical to the factory spec.
- Meilan 16X model variants (M1872, M872H, M872Q): These four model codes share the same battery bay dimensions, connector layout, and BMS handshake protocol. The BA872 footprint is 80.00 × 60.40 × 3.50mm — the cell fits without modification across all variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the BA872 through a full charge cycle on the Meilan 16X platform and confirmed BMS handshake, charge termination at 4.35V, and fuel gauge IC response across three consecutive cycles. No abnormal heat events on the charge IC were recorded.
- First-cycle fast charge protocol: On first use after installation, disable MeiZu's fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC needs to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell — skipping this step can cause early percentage jumps.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Meilan 16X after a cell swap
The Meilan 16X uses a coulomb counter fuel gauge that was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original aged cell. A fresh BA872 cell has a steeper voltage drop under modem and display load than the old degraded cell the IC was tracking. When voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.4–3.5V under peak load — the phone shuts down even though the percentage reads higher. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle resets the fuel gauge baseline and eliminates the premature cutoff in most cases.
USB-PD or proprietary fast charge not activating after battery replacement
MeiZu's fast charge protocol negotiates between the charge IC on the board and the BMS inside the battery pack. On the first cycle after installing a new BA872, the BMS may not complete the handshake on the first connection, causing the charger to fall back to standard 5V input. This is not a fault — the BMS initialises fully after one standard charge completes. Reconnect the charger after the first full cycle and fast charge will negotiate correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Meilan 16X shuts off at around 25% battery — why does this happen with a new BA872 cell?
The fuel gauge IC in the Meilan 16X was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell it was tracking. A fresh BA872 has a different voltage profile under load, so the IC misreads the remaining charge and the BMS cuts out prematurely when voltage drops under modem or screen load. Run one complete uninterrupted discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. That single full cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve.
The battery percentage on my Meilan 16X keeps jumping around erratically after fitting the BA872 — is the new cell faulty?
Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap are almost always the fuel gauge IC recalibrating, not a defective cell. The IC holds a learned model of the old cell's impedance and charge retention; the BA872 presents different characteristics, so the counter loses tracking until it builds a new baseline. Avoid topping up or pulling the phone off charge mid-cycle for the first two to three cycles. After three complete discharge-charge cycles the percentage reporting should stabilise.
My Meilan 16X won't power on after the BA872 sat in storage for a few months before I installed it — what do I do?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the BA872 dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent charging a dangerously depleted cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the BMS lockout threshold; once voltage recovers above 3.0V, normal charging resumes and the phone will boot.
