Fits Leuze HS6578 barcode scanner; replaces OEM part 50120448.
3.7V 3400mAh cell delivers full scan and wireless transmission power on single shift in retail or warehouse picking.
Connector slides straight into scanner battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against scanner body.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; cell discharged evenly under mixed scan-and-idle drawer cycles.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Leuze HS6578 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (50120448)

This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 50120448 in the Leuze HS6578 handheld barcode scanner. The HS6578 is a corded or cordless scanner used in retail, logistics, and warehouse pick-and-pack environments. Capacity is rated at 12.58Wh and matches the original cell format at 68.90 × 23.56 × 22.00mm.

  • HS6578 platform fit: The HS6578 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a BMS that monitors cell voltage, temperature, and current draw. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector pinout, so the host device recognises the battery and releases the scan trigger lock-out correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge under combined scan-trigger and wireless radio loads. The BMS held charge termination at 4.2V and cut off at the correct low-voltage threshold without tripping false protection events during high-frequency scan bursts.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack work. Scan-trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents the BMS from tripping on the first burst of scans.

Cradle showing a charging error on a freshly installed pack

Charging docks on the HS6578 platform use contact resistance to confirm a valid pack is seated. If the gold pogo pins on the cradle or the contact pads on the battery are contaminated with dust or oxidation, the dock reads elevated resistance and flags a charging fault. This is not a battery fault — the pack itself is fine. Wipe both sets of contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and confirm the charge LED changes state within 10 seconds.

Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst

During a fast scan sequence, the HS6578 draws current simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio. That combined inrush can cause a brief voltage sag on a cell that is below 3.5V. When the cell voltage sags, the BMS may interrupt output for a fraction of a second — enough to drop the wireless session. This does not mean the battery is faulty. Keep the pack charged above 50% during high-frequency scanning runs, and the sag stays within the BMS tolerance window.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HS6578 stops reading barcodes right after I swap in the new battery — is the pack dead?

The pack is not dead. The HS6578 imager needs a minimum cell voltage to fire the laser or LED at full intensity — if the new battery ships partially discharged, the imager draw can pull the cell below that threshold immediately. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before first use. Once the cell reaches 4.2V and the charge LED confirms completion, the scanner will read normally.

The scanner runs noticeably warm by mid-shift — is that a battery problem?

Warmth in the HS6578 housing during a long shift comes from sustained back-to-back scan-plus-wireless draw inside an enclosed plastic shell with limited airflow — not a fault with the battery itself. The cell temperature stays within safe Li-ion operating range as long as the pack is not being charged and discharged simultaneously (avoid leaving the unit in a powered cradle while actively scanning). If the housing feels hot rather than warm, check that the cradle is not applying a charge current while the scanner is in active use.

My shift endurance is shorter than it was with the original battery — what reduces it?

Two things directly drain this pack faster than users expect: wireless polling rate and scan burst frequency. The HS6578 radio polls the host system at a fixed interval regardless of whether a barcode is being read, adding a constant baseline draw on top of each scan event. If the wireless channel is congested and the scanner retransmits packets, current draw spikes further. Check the wireless polling interval in the scanner configuration utility and reduce it if the application allows — that alone can meaningfully extend the charge between top-ups.
