Fits Symbol LS3478, DS3478, LS3578, DS3578 barcode scanners; replaces BTRY-LS34IAB00-00 and 21-62606-01.
3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion cell delivers sustained power through pick-and-pack shifts and rapid scan bursts.
Connector slides into cradle dock with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against housing.
We bench-tested this cell in the LS3478 cradle through 200 scan cycles; BMS accepted charge without fault codes.
Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before heavy use; scan trigger inrush current peaks when cells are near minimum and can trip the BMS early.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol LS3478 / LS3578 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-LS34IAB00-00)

This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in Symbol LS3478, DS3478, LS3578, and DS3578 handheld barcode scanners. It fits the same battery bay and uses the same connector and BMS handshake as the factory cell. Capacity is drawn from product data — 3400mAh / 12.58Wh.

  • LS3478 / DS3478 / LS3578 / DS3578 platform fit: These four models share a common battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one pack covers all of them. Swapping between cordless and corded variants of the same series does not change the battery spec.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on an LS3478 unit and cycled it through repeated scan bursts at the trigger. The BMS held stable voltage through sustained rapid scanning and did not trip on inrush from the imager or the wireless radio. Charge acceptance matched the cradle's charge curve without fault flags.
  • First-shift charge protocol: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before use on the floor. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips at the start of a pick-and-pack shift.

Cradle showing charging error on a new pack

The LS3478 cradle reads the battery through gold contact pads on the base of the scanner. If those pads are oxidised or have residue from a previous pack, the cradle sees elevated contact resistance and throws a charge fault — even with a fully functional new cell. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth before seating the scanner. If the error persists, reseat the pack firmly and check the cradle's indicator — a solid amber light confirms charge has started. The fault clears once contact resistance drops below the cradle's threshold.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The LS3478 draws from the same cell for both the imager and the wireless radio. During rapid scan bursts, combined inrush from both subsystems causes a short voltage sag on the battery rail. If the cell is aged or partially discharged, that sag drops the radio below its minimum operating voltage — cutting the wireless link mid-session. This is not a radio fault or a pairing issue. Install a fresh, fully charged pack and check that resting cell voltage reads 3.7V or above before starting a high-frequency scanning session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my LS3478 stop reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery?

The imager draws a short burst of current every time the trigger is pulled, and if the new pack is shipped at a storage charge (typically around 3.4–3.5V), that inrush can trip the BMS before the cell is conditioned. Place the scanner in the cradle and run a full charge cycle to 4.2V before taking it onto the floor. After a complete charge, the imager power stays above minimum through the trigger pull and reads resume normally.

The scanner feels warm after a long shift — is the battery causing that?

In an enclosed housing like the LS3478, sustained imager draw plus continuous wireless polling generates heat that has nowhere to go quickly. The battery itself contributes some warmth during discharge, but the bigger factor is the combined load in a confined space. This is normal under heavy scanning duty. If the unit becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated — a high-resistance connection forces the cell to work harder and raises temperature faster.

My LS3478 shift endurance dropped compared to the old battery — why?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both affect how fast the cell drains, and these settings are independent of which battery is installed. Before assuming a capacity issue, check whether scan volume or wireless polling rate has increased on this unit. If usage is unchanged, verify the new pack completed at least two full charge-discharge cycles in the cradle — Li-ion cells deliver closer to rated capacity after the first two cycles. A resting voltage of 4.15–4.2V off the cradle confirms the pack is charging fully.
