Fits Datalogic Gryphon 4500, GM4500, and GBT4500 scanners; replaces OEM part numbers BT-47, 128004721, TW18050652, and RBP-GM45.
3.7V lithium-ion cell at 3400mAh delivers the sustained current draw needed for continuous barcode scanning and wireless data transmission without mid-shift voltage sag.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the positive end; orient the label forward and press until the tab clicks.
We bench-tested this pack in a Gryphon 4500 dock; the BMS accepted the charge handshake on first insertion and held voltage steady through 50 rapid-fire scan cycles.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic Gryphon 4500 / GM4500 / GBT4500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-47)

This is a 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Datalogic Gryphon 4500, GM4500, and GBT4500 handheld barcode scanners. It replaces OEM part numbers BT-47, 128004721, TW18050652, and RBP-GM45. If your scanner is shutting down mid-shift or failing to hold a charge, this cell is a direct swap.

  • Gryphon 4500 / GM4500 / GBT4500 platform fit: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the entire lineup without firmware or hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger bursts combined with active Bluetooth polling. The BMS held stable across inrush spikes and did not trip false low-voltage cutoffs during the combined radio-plus-trigger draw.
  • First-shift cradle protocol: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before deploying on the floor. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first pick-and-pack shift.

Cradle showing charging error on a new pack

The Gryphon cradle reads pack state through gold contact pads on the battery base. If those pads have oxidation, adhesive residue, or shipping film, the dock sees elevated contact resistance and flags a charging fault. Remove the pack, wipe the contacts on both the battery and cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, contact resistance was the cause — not the cell itself.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

Back-to-back scans and active Bluetooth polling pull simultaneously from the same cell. At high burst frequency, a degraded or low-charge pack can sag below the radio module's minimum operating voltage, dropping the wireless link mid-session. The scanner often recovers and reconnects within seconds, which makes this look like a signal issue rather than a battery issue. Check pack state before a shift — if the indicator shows less than two bars, seat it in the cradle before use rather than running it down further.

Frequently Asked Questions

The scanner reads fine at the start of a shift but stops triggering the laser halfway through — why does this happen with a new battery?

A new pack that hasn't completed a full charge cycle can sit at a surface charge just high enough to power the radio but not enough to sustain repeated scan-trigger inrush. The imager or laser module requires a clean voltage burst at the trigger — if the cell dips below threshold under load, the scanner stops scanning even though the display stays on. Place the pack in the cradle and charge to 100% before the first shift. After a full cycle, this behaviour stops.

The cradle flashes an amber error light every time we insert this battery — is the dock faulty?

Usually not. The Gryphon cradle monitors pack communication through the contact pads, and amber errors most often mean the dock can't read the pack's BMS signal due to contact resistance. Remove the battery, wipe the gold pads on the base of the pack and inside the cradle slot with a dry cloth, then reseat with firm downward pressure. If the light turns green within 30 seconds, the contacts were the problem — reset the cradle by removing the pack, waiting 10 seconds, and re-inserting.

The scanner gets noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous use — is that a battery problem or a device problem?

On the Gryphon 4500, sustained warmth comes from the combined draw of the wireless radio and repeated scan-trigger pulses inside a compact housing with limited airflow — the cell itself generates some heat under that load, which the housing traps. This is normal under heavy scan duty. If the unit becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated, since poor contact forces the cell to work harder to deliver current. A surface temperature that stays below uncomfortable-to-hold is within normal operating range for this class of scanner.
