Fits LG G5, H830, and H840 models; replaces OEM battery BL-42D1F.
3.85V nominal output with 2800mAh capacity powers the phone's modem, display, and processor load cycles without stepdown.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left edge; orientation is keyed.
We bench-tested the BMS against a G5 motherboard at 80% discharge depth; fuel gauge IC accepted the cell handshake on power-up.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG G5 / H830 / G5 Lite — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-42D1F)

This is a 3.85V, 2800mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the BL-42D1F in the LG G5 and its variants, including the H830, G5 Lite, and H840. The G5's removable battery door makes swapping straightforward, but the fuel gauge IC needs attention after any cell replacement. Voltage and capacity figures come directly from product data — 10.78Wh total energy.

  • G5 variant compatibility: The G5, H830, H840, and G5 Lite all share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers all these models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge on a G5 unit, confirmed the BMS handshake completed correctly, and verified the charge IC accepted the cell without triggering a fault flag.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the G5 after a cell swap

The G5's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When a fresh cell is installed, the IC's coulomb counter still references the old curve, so it misjudges remaining voltage. Under high-draw moments — LTE transmission, screen-on bursts — the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the OS reads 0%. One full slow-charge cycle forces the IC to relearn the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at inflated percentages stop.

Phone not powering on after the BL-42D1F sat in storage

Li-ion cells that drop below approximately 2.5V trigger a BMS lockout state to prevent cell damage. A G5 showing no response to the power button after storage is almost always in this state — not a dead cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger rated at least 1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The BMS recovery circuit will trickle current into the cell until it clears the lockout threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone powers on.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LG G5 percentage keeps jumping around after I put in the new BL-42D1F — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC on the G5 was calibrated to the discharge curve of your old, worn battery. When a new cell goes in, the coulomb counter references outdated data, so the percentage reading becomes erratic. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge at standard speed — no fast charging. After that single cycle the IC recalibrates to the new curve and the percentage stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working on my G5 the moment I swapped in the replacement battery — why?

The G5's charge IC runs a handshake on the first cycle with a new cell. If the BMS on the replacement cell hasn't completed its initialisation, the phone defaults to standard charge current rather than fast charge. This is a protection behaviour, not a fault. Disconnect the charger, power the phone off, reconnect, and let it charge uninterrupted from below 20% to full — fast charging typically resumes from the second cycle onward once the handshake clears.

My G5 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a cell that has been through several charge cycles. The charge IC pushes current into that higher-impedance cell, and some of that energy converts to heat — which is why warmth during the first few charges is expected. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or throttles the CPU, remove it from the charger and let it cool before resuming. By the third or fourth full charge cycle, impedance drops and the warmth reduces to the level you'd expect from the original battery.
