Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG Optimus 2X / P990 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SBPL0103001)
This 3.7V Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the LG P990, Optimus 2X, Optimus Speed, and Star smartphones. Capacity is 2400mAh (8.88Wh), matching the original specification. It fits the standard compartment and connects via the OEM-spec contact plate without modification.
- P990 / Optimus 2X / Speed / Star compatibility: All four models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V voltage rail, and three-pin contact layout. The SBPL0103001 and FL-53HN part numbers both cross-reference to this cell, so the same unit covers every variant in the group.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the P990 platform. The BMS accepted a standard charge cycle without triggering overcurrent cutoff, and the protection circuit responded correctly to low-voltage termination at the expected threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use, disable any fast-charge adapter and run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging is introduced into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the P990 after a cell swap
The P990's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the original cell's internal resistance and discharge curve. A new cell has different impedance characteristics, so the IC misreads remaining capacity and trips shutdown before the cell is actually empty. This appears as an abrupt power-off at 20–30% with no warning. One full discharge-charge cycle corrects the coulomb counter and moves the shutdown point back to the correct low-voltage threshold near 3.0V per cell.
OS percentage jumping erratically in the first week after replacement
Erratic percentage readings — jumping from 45% to 60% or dropping 15 points instantly — point to the fuel gauge IC working from a stale discharge model stored in memory from the old cell. The IC uses accumulated charge and discharge data to estimate state of charge, and that data does not reset automatically on a cell swap. Two to three full discharge-charge cycles flush the old model and let the IC rebuild an accurate curve. After the third cycle, percentage readout stabilises and tracks linearly with actual voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LG P990 shuts off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The P990's fuel gauge IC is still reading from the discharge curve it mapped to your old, degraded cell, so it triggers shutdown before the new cell is actually depleted. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and shutdown moves back to the correct threshold near 3.0V.
The phone won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — what do I do?
If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to protect the cell. Connect the phone to a low-current charger — a standard 5V/500mA USB port works better here than a fast charger — and leave it for 30–60 minutes without pressing the power button. The BMS recovery circuit trickle-charges the cell back above the lockout threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone powers on.
The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal with a new cell?
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which causes the charge IC to work harder and generate more heat during the constant-current phase. This is expected on the first two to three cycles and settles as the cell's impedance drops with use. If the back of the phone stays warm well into the constant-voltage phase — the last 20% of charging — switch to a lower-current charger at 5V/1A for the remaining break-in cycles.
