Fits Magellan RoadMate 2000, 2200T, 2250T and Maestro 3100 GPS navigators, replacing OEM part 37-00030-001.
3.7V at 1250mAh delivers 4.63Wh — sufficient for full-day navigation cycles on the RoadMate platform without mid-route shutdown.
Connector slides onto the battery contact pins with a single locking tab; orientation is marked on the device housing to prevent reverse insertion.
We cycled this cell through five full charge-discharge runs on a RoadMate 2000 test unit; BMS reported stable voltage curve with no early cutoff or thermal drift.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption requires 5-10 minutes for initial lock versus under one minute on subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magellan RoadMate 2000 / Maestro 3100 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (37-00030-001)

This 3.7V Li-ion cell at 1250mAh (4.63Wh) replaces the original battery in the Magellan RoadMate 2000, RoadMate 2200T, RoadMate 2250T, and Maestro 3100 portable GPS navigators. These units share the same internal battery bay dimensions (50.56 x 36.03 x 7.12mm) and connector, so one cell covers all four models. Fits directly behind the rear cover without modification.

  • RoadMate 2000 / 2200T / 2250T / Maestro 3100 platform: All four models run the same 3.7V power rail with an identical connector footprint and BMS communication handshake, which is why a single cell services the entire group. Swapping between models does not require a different part number.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the RoadMate platform and confirmed the BMS accepted full charge without triggering an over-voltage cutoff. The protection circuit also tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold before the cell reached an unsafe state.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it sit in an open-sky location. The GPS performs a full cold start after any complete power interruption — first fix can take 5–10 minutes versus under a minute for a warm start. Do not expect immediate navigation readiness straight out of the box.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the RoadMate 2000

When cell voltage drops below approximately 3.5V, some RoadMate units reduce receiver sensitivity to conserve power. The GPS antenna still acquires satellites, but position accuracy can degrade and the unit may lose fix in areas with partial sky coverage — under tree canopy or in urban canyons. This is not a hardware fault — it is a deliberate firmware power-saving response. Keeping the battery at a healthy charge state maintains full receiver sensitivity.

RoadMate shuts off without warning before the battery indicator hits empty

The on-screen battery gauge in these navigators is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different curve means the indicator can read one bar remaining while the actual cell voltage is already at the cut-off threshold — around 3.0V. The unit then shuts down without a low-battery alert. After two or three full charge and discharge cycles, the firmware recalibrates and the indicator becomes accurate again. Run the unit on battery until it shuts off naturally, then charge fully — repeat this twice to reset the gauge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RoadMate 2000 lost all my saved routes and favourites after fitting the new battery — is that normal?

Yes. The RoadMate 2000 stores saved routes and POIs in battery-backed RAM, and a full power interruption — which happens during a battery swap — clears that memory. The device itself is fine. Re-enter your saved locations manually after the swap; they will persist through normal use once the unit has a stable power source again.

After replacing the battery, satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes instead of a few seconds — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery causes a cold start, which forces the GPS receiver to rebuild its almanac from scratch rather than using cached satellite position data. We confirmed this on the bench — first fix after a full power loss takes 5–10 minutes in open sky. Subsequent power cycles recover in under a minute. Take the unit outside to an open area and leave it powered on until it locks; it will behave normally after that.

My RoadMate drains the new battery much faster when I'm actively navigating versus when it's just sitting on the dash — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full sensitivity and keeps the display lit, which together draw significantly more current than standby. The original cell aged down to a fraction of its rated capacity, so the gap was less noticeable. At 1250mAh this replacement is at factory spec — to extend use between charges, reduce display brightness in the RoadMate settings menu, which is the single largest controllable draw on the cell.
